The kittens have entered the snuggly phase just in time for them to go back to the shelter to be neutered and adopted. While I do love the snuggly phase, I do wish they wouldn't be in it when it is time for them to go, I prefer them to be obnoxious and kind of a pain so it is a little easier - if you know what I mean. They have an appointment Tuesday, so there is a good chance I won't have kittens for Thanksgiving. While that is sad, I think I'm okay with it as I do have a few things I really want to tackle and having a little extra time in my day might help with that.

Catching up with the kittens

The kittens are doing well, despite there still being some out of the box incidents. I am 90% sure it is Trout, so when we had another puddle on the couch (on top of the rippled plastic guard I had up there) the shelter decided to get him tested. I brought him up and they kept him for a while until they were able to get a sample and both fortunately and unfortunately they didn't find anything.  We decided to try a different litter and gave him regular ol clay litter, which he seemed to like. Despite liking the new litter, there were still issues, and then we had poop outside of the box as well.  I recently gave him an even larger litter box and so far so good... but it has only been 20 hours or so as I type this so I am no means ready to declare this fixed.  I'd like it to be.. that is for sure.

They are putting on weight nicely and Trout and Guppy are just about two pounds so a date to be neutered will be forthcoming.

I did give them some minnows which they liked quite a bit... I'm not sure if it was playing with or eating.. but I have a feeling that since they liked both aspects of it, they were even more enjoyable.

The kittens receive guests

My friend (and guardian to one of my former fosters) wanted to come up and receive a little kitten therapy. I love having people come and visit the kittens because the more I can expose them to the better.  Fortunately, except for some ongoing litter box issues (this has got to stop soon or I am going to have to see if they want to check them for a medical issue) this set of kittens have some impressive self-esteem so they didn't *need* socialization, but it is always a good thing.

The kittens were lovely and social and just what Dr. Tiny Kitten ordered.

I know I'm being used, but I kinda like this scratching behind the ear thing.

It is a good thing distressed leather is in this year ;) 

A check in with the kittens

Monday posts usually deal with how the kittens are developing, but that was preempted by Halloween.

This weekend the kittens went up to the shelter for a check in and to receive another round of vaccines. This shelter likes to give them every two weeks until they are neutered. This feels like overkill to me, but no one asked me.

They have all put on weight and they received glowing reviews from the foster coordinator. Unfortunately, Guppy had a bit of an issue with her vaccine and she was not feeling well for a few hours afterward. She curled up in the cauldron and went to sleep - which was oh so cute! She was herself later that evening.

Guppy also really likes her food. She totally saves some for later.

Trout is gaining, which is great. His stool is still soft, and he is still peeing on the floor in front of the litterbox. He is SUCH a boy. I am hoping in the next week he out grows this.

Puffer is downright adorable. She is starting to enjoy being pet and likes to play.

Flounder is quite independent and is usually quite busy exploring and investigating things.. even when those things are me, she doesn't have a lot of time.

All in all, aside from litter box issues, they are doing very well and we are doing another check in with the shelter in two weeks.
