Animal Communicator

The shelter held an animal communicator event today.  She came in and for $15 you could get a reading.  I thought it was for half an hour, but it was for 15 minutes.  I don't really care, I was mostly done.  I could have gone on and asked about Em, and given some of my other kitties a chance to say something, but I wanted to check in with Jack and see how he was doing since he had been spraying.

I brought him with me, with his harness in the basket carrier.  We used to travel quite a bit when he was younger, but he isn't as comfortable being out and about now.  He shook a little and while he ate the treats, he preferred to sit in the basket while we chatted.  So half way through I moved the basket so he could sit in it.  He was much more comfortable that way.

From an outward perspective, he did not seem to be interested in the communication at all.  He barely looked at the woman.  He ate the treats, nosed around on me for a bit, then jumped down looking to get in the carrier.

from what I was told though, he was apparently rather chatty.

I've had several different readings, and most times the communicator doesn't much like "so what does he have to tell me"  They prefer it when there is a question to be asked and answered.... well at least that is when I get actual information.  When I ask what does he have to say, I generally get way too general answers.

One of the first things she said though, was he had what felt like post nasal drip.  she even made a noise that she said came from him because she feels what he feels when she connects.  Nasal drip doesn't make much sense to me because he hasn't had any nasal discharge, but he has had some throat issues since his surgery.  I mentioned that, and she went on that thought for a while, but came back to nasal drip.

I asked about the spraying.  He hasn't done it since Ollie's passing, so I assumed it had to do with stress.  She said it had to do with his feeling like he had to "get something out"  She said it feels like there are crystals on the outside of his bladder walls and when they flake off they feel like snowflakes.  Since he has had several bouts with urinary crystals, I found that interesting.  I had his urine checked during his trip to the vet, and it came back ok (no crystals)   I mentioned again that it concerned me and she wanted to check in with him about not doing it.  She said he liked to do it on the tree.  Since I came with a cat in a harness she assumed I took him out.  I said no, he is completely indoors.  She said he is showing me a tree, which is when it dawned on me that this is the spot that he has been spraying.  You can see I put orange peels down on the heater, and that is where it is, but it is close enough to make me go.. duh!
She said he said he will scratch the tree when he is about to spray..  we'll see.

She said he liked to sit up on my shoulder when I hold him.  He felt that was regal.
She said that he liked the other harness better.  The "blue" one and she pointed to the light blue handles of the basket..  He said it matches him better.  Which was funny because I like the other harness we have as it is easier to put on, but it is a little easier to slip out of so I picked the new one.  The other harness is a light purple.

He prefers canned food in chunks .. ha ha ha.. not surprised.  She said he likes the food in the "purple can" no idea what that means.  He said he prefers the "mushy" treats over the dry ones.

I asked how the harmony in the house was.  She got the sense it was very quiet.  Which it is, no fosters, no fussing over Ollie, the house is very quiet.  She asked if there was anyone in the home, I said yes, six other cats, and she didn't get that sense.  Although a little bit later she said he doesn't like it when one of the other cats scrabble on the floor.. meaning when they try to run and can't get purchase because of the hardwood floors.  He apparently showed her the house and she said it was very nice, mentioning the large room and the archway
Jack talked about liking to be on his back and playing with something hanging.  I thought he meant the toys hanging off one of the cat trees, but the more she talked the more I think she meant this
I got this for Muffin a few years ago because she liked pom-poms.  Tweedle has been playing with it lately and it has been out and about.

I had her check in with Ollie.  I said I am assuming he is happy now, and he said oh yes, very happy.  He apparently showed up "with a dog" which she went on to describe.  I have no dogs in my life, so she was a little perplexed, but then either came up with, or Ollie told her that he just brought the dog for someone else because he was too stupid to find his way himself.  That to me is a very Ollie thing.    Was it?  That is one of those things to me that is too vague to be sure of.  Although.. she did mention the left side, and went right to the spot on her corresponding with the spot on him where his cancer was.  She said she saw an X over it which she thought was odd.  She also talked about his passing.  How Ollie was sorry he had to put me through it, but that he did get comfort in my being there.  She said she got the feeling I was able to give him some Reiki (energy) during his passing which he found comforting.

Then I had her check in with Skippy.  I am concerned about him because I still feel like he is fearful that he will be returned again.  He was returned by me to the shelter originally, adopted by someone and returned, then brought home by me to get healthy, and returned, and he got sick again came back went back, and after a week I couldn't deal with it so I adopted him.  I often get the feeling that he feels that one wrong move and he's being sent back, and I can't seem to get him over that.  She said he was unsure of things.  She said he was unsure of coming up on the bed sometimes - which is completely true.  She said he was unsure of how to play - which is not really true.  He plays with Fleurp a lot, and often tries to play with others, which may lead to his being unsure because they don't much like his version of play.  She also said he had some pain on his left side, but different from what she felt with Jack and Ollie (both of which had their issues on the left side) I have NO idea what this refers to.  He also said he would like to have his dinner on a blue plate.  We feed on two large dinner plates.  We used to give Ollie a separate plate, so maybe he's wishing he got special treatment.. but heck, I have a blue plate, and if that helps him feel comfortable here, then a blue plate it is.  She said he would like to snuggle nose to nose with me (and a dry nose), and then I'll know he's comfortable

I told her about Kit, and her love for my husband, and she said, yes, she does LOVE my husband, and specifically his chest. She would like it if he were to go bare chested.. which I had to giggle at because my husband is not a bare chest kind of guy, and I'm sure he'd be too fearful of her claws to actually do it.
I had her connect to Twee, because the other animal communicators have always found her interesting.  She got the feeling that she was making a rrr rrr sound, or thought, or feeling.. Kind of like a motor that won't fully start, which is interesting since she is such a special kitty.  The other said she talked like a young kitten even though she was several years old.

There was a lot more this time that was concrete and solid.  There was quite a bit I didn't understand or didn't make sense.  That is the unfortunate side of animal communicators.  Is it because they are scams or because the pets aren't all that great at getting out what needs to be said in a way we can understand it. There was enough on this reading that I don't feel it was a scam, and I will be happy to contact her again if I feel the need to connect to my crew a little more directly.

Second Session with Animal Communicator

I said I'd post this, and I haven't really wanted to face it again. This second reading was much more vague than the first. Because I got some distinct readings the first time, I still do believe in Animal Communication, I just have to accept that English is no the first language of cats and that they don't think like I do. According to this second reading, they just don't care as much as I think they should - well except Muffin.

I wanted to know how the cats were dealing with Em's passing, how they thought about adding an additional kitten into the mix, and if they had anything else to say.

Ollie - is a sweetie, loves me a lot, not happy that Emmy passed, but feels closer to me and is taking Em's attention now that she's gone. Um.. ok. I guess. Said he didn't want a new kitten in the house, and didn't like the fostering, thought it was disruptive but I've had fosters continually now for years.. ???

Jack - Food not as good I added hearts and gizzards to that batch, and I've gotten the impression before that they don't like it Thought things are better since Em passed since she was acting strangely before she died. and that was uncomfortable. The A/C said he was sweet. has hairballs/was sick to his stomach.

Muffin - anti-kitten! well duh! but I didn't say this to the AC Everything else is ok.

Eli - wants to play more with toys. Might be ok to have a kitten. Wants to play, and just makes muffin MAD! when he tries. doesn't like Tweedle, but no particular reason why. Healthy but bored wants more adventure in his life is this why he's sleeping in the toy basket lately?

Tweedle - would like litterboxes cleaned more often I constantly mention that to DH - his job since I'm allergic to the dust would like more attention, would like to cuddle more, misses Em and thinks things just aren't the same.

She talked to the kitten, who was a typical kitten, no specific answers about us or staying. said she liked things the way they were with her siblings..

I had her talk to Em at that point. She said Em was very relieved and very happy in spirit. So happy that if she had known earlier that she would have been so happy she would have wanted to go earlier. I asked if I waited too long - and the answer was it doesn't matter any more. I asked if she watches us. The answer was vague.. doesn't know specifics, like if we are doing the laundry, but does know about our emotions. but there was no other comments. Not sure how I feel about this... as they are answers that anyone would want to hear, and nothing specific to either Em or myself or anyone else.. which kinda hurt more than anything else.

again, I'm still for A/C.. just don't think I'll be doing it again any time soon

coming to an end

Well I have set up an appointment for the May fosters.. they will be going up for adoption this weekend..

which stinks on a couple of different levels since there is a cat show that I would like to go to, and a gathering of people I know on the internet which I think would be good for me to go to..

the woman that emailed me about Miss Molly and Miss Martha emailed me and apologied for not showing up that weekend, and asked if she could come this weekend.. well she never emailed or called me with more info, and it never happened. I feel bad that they will be sent into the system, but I know the shelter will respect the fact that they should be together..

I'm still horribly torn about adopting Tilly. I talked with the animal communicator yesterday - which was very funny and very painful - and while muffin is very "anti-kitten" (which just knowing her for 10 minutes you'd know) and Ollie is against it too, the others were sorta ok with it. Although I know they'd like Buddy - who is quite handsome - but a total handful and looks too much like Emerald - who escapes every time I open the door, and my cats like to chase him around the basement.

The new fosters still don't have names. I'm waiting till they are tested I guess.. make sure they aren't going to be taken away from me.. They are totally the "spawn of evil" as my DH likes to call them. They look up at you with their pathetic eyes, and purr and want to be patted, but then they jump on you and try to take you down. Already they want OUT of the bathroom. This morning four of the five were curled up on my previously used hair towel (one of those specifically designed for you to turban around your wet hair) The cuteness is overwhelming.. and their bellies are still way bigger than their head. I wish they would grab on to the fact that dry food is food, so they would know there is always food available so they wouldn't feel the need to eat EVERYTHING I put down.

anyway.. I am happy only having five cats - sorta - but I do know I have this opening that could be filled.. and I have this adorable kitten that is so cute.. we've nicknamed her the hypno-toad kitten (from the tv show futurama who had a hypno-toad in it that made anyone near it do what ever it wanted)

there will be other adorable kittens.. obviously they are upstairs in my bathroom... there will be other kittens that will need me.. I dont need to rush into this..

I guess like the bane of my existance "emotional eating" I want to do "emotional adopting" it feels so right to do it, but some part of me somewhere is saying no.. (actually I think it is Muffin projecting her "NOOOOOO" onto me.. but that's a different post)

I'll post more about my A/C session once I can do it with out crying..

Em and the animal communicator

Well, I have heard a lot of people rave about those who can communicate with animals. I have had several recommendations, and made an appointment with Dawn.

I made very general statements about my cats. She asked for names, age, and coloring. I said I wanted to check in with everyone. I didn't give specific questions till after her first "general impression"

I use quotes for lack of better terminology on my part. Yes, I am/was skeptical. I know cats live in the moment, and don't really dig deep into their past and carry these things around, so I was pretty certain they wouldn't complain that one time I yelled too loud etc.

She said Em thought she was a good cat, and very patient with the other kitties. She said that she sleeps a lot and gets tired easily. That her mouth hurts, and she has been getting sick to her stomach. Em has a good opinion of herself. I asked why she doesn't use the litter box, and the answer was that she didn't like climbing in and didn't like standing in it. Em thinks she is a clean cat. I asked specifically about her health, and beyond that she's tired and her mouth hurts, she didn't complain. I asked about if I should fight aggressively, or if I should let her go when her health declines, and Em was concerned about the quality of life. If she can continue on with the quality of life, then she wants to stay around.

Ollie says everyone is happy here. He's healthy but does have occasional discomfort when urinating. Not at the moment, but when it does happen it is in his urethra and penis. He also mentioned he likes his food - qualified to the dry food which I feed as treats.

Jack said he loves me a lot. He immediately asked if he could go outside because he likes the birds - even though he said he knew the answer was going to be no. Then he asked if I would play with him more alone. (I have noticed that previously - if I try to play with him, others join in and he gives up and leaves) She commented he was very loving. I asked about his health due to the fact he had blocked before - and Jack said it was because he was stressed at the time. I am going to have to read back in this blog and find out what was going on at the time to see if I can figure out what might have been stressing him.

Muffin. Immediately said she's jealous of Tweedle. Muff thinks Twee is "super cute, innocent and joyful" Likes Twee in general, but not of the attention she gets from me. Muff said she'd like extra love and complements and also would like to play with toys with me alone. Also, she would like more treats.

Eli... She laughed when she talked to Eli. Eli didn't know what to say and asked for specific questions. I asked about his health, and he said he was fine. I asked about how he feels about my cleaning his ears and eyes. He said it hurt, but was appreciative, that it helps him a lot and that I was very careful when I did it. - we then moved on to Tweedle. While we were talking about Twee... Eli came in the room and pawed at the phone cord, so I asked to check in with him to see if there was something else and was told he thought all of this was very "strange"

Tweedle. She said Twee talks as if she is 9 months old. She knows she is the baby. She loves other cats and wants to cuddle with them more. She feels she has to force other kitties to spend time with her.

and that was pretty much it. They are very happy and content. Dawn commented that she thought what we had was unique for a six cat household.. that there usually are more issues.
I was a little surprised that Ollie wasn't more grumpy about things - but thinking about it, he has been happier lately.. I still call him my grumpy ol' man, but maybe I need to reconsider that. I'm a little surprised that no one complained about the restrictions I put on them.. like getting in Em's room. The jealousy I knew about and was amused that it was the first thing Muff said. I was amazed that she said that Twee talks like she's 9 months. I've always said that Twee is my "down syndrome" kitty. Sweet as pie, but developmentally behind.

Now for the Em update.

Monday she went to the vet. Tuesday wasn't a good day. She was tired and listless. Wednesday she was a little more alert, and her nose wasn't as bad - till I saw where she slept all day, as it was covered in what ever is draining out of her nose. Thursday her nose was bad again, but she was downright perky.. Friday the same. Today after the reading I took her outside. She's been making motions that she really wanted to, so today I let her. She walked around the house, marking every corner. She went and investigated the neighbor's little trees that line our property line. When she used to go outside, she used to just go out and sit under the bushes, but there are no bushes here, so it looked like she was checking out the trees to see if she could hide under them. She tried to get to the brush at the edge of our property, but I wouldn't let her because there would be no catching her in there. She continued to walk around the house and climbed up the rocks on one corner. I didn't think she could make it as she's old etc, but she jumped right up there. She found several things in the ground very interesting to smell and spent some time sniffing it. She then walked back up on the porch, and with a little encouragement, she went into the house. She really seemed perky and as if she was having a lot of fun, so I'll probably do that tomorrow. Might even try putting a harness on Jack and see if he wants to go too. I don't mind letting Em go, because she can't or won't really run, but I couldn't trust that I would be able to catch Jack if something freaked him out and he decided to bolt.

Summery - Em is pretty much the same, enjoying life, food and a good cuddle. If she's dying, she isn't doing it anytime soon. See. I absolutely should not put the cart before the horse, but it is so hard. It took until Thursday till I could drive in the car and not be close to tears about losing her, no matter how many times I told myself it wasn't happening yet. The test results aren't in yet, so we still have a few more hurdles to get through.
