Sunday I picked names and took the first set of baby photos to share them with you. 

So,  without further ado:

Cherry - female

 

Maraschino (she has a white front paw)

Hot Fudge - female

Sprinkles - male

Fluff (first born)  male

Butterscotch - male

Naming day for our newest resident kitties

 Well, I know this is probably going to be anticlimactic for some of you, but we finally have names for these two.

When I thought up the names Peanut Butter and Jelly I knew full well that I would never keep those, but I wasn't worried because I had zero intention of keeping them. Right up to the moment I signed the adoption contract, and even to this day, I wonder if I did the right thing, but they are filling the hole in cat ownership that was created when Jack and Muffin left us, so I do not regret it for one second.. 

Names were difficult. This little boy was quite dramatic. He was annoyed that I wasn't listening to him, he was annoyed that I was throwing such stupid names at him. And he was way too busy to communicate the name he did want fully. 

When I did find something I thought he liked I waited for 24 hours and the next day it was always not right. 

The girl was easier. Either she doesn't care what I call her or I hit on something early on she could live with. As you remember, she was so timid and shy and was still hiding from us most of the time. I set them up in the bedroom with her favorite hiding spot, the cat tree from the kitten room. She spent a lot of time there and I would gently place some CBD laced treats for her in there which she gobbled right up. They worked their magic and she slowly came out more and more often. These days she only runs when one of us comes in after a long absence (like the Catman coming home from work) but she doesn't run far, thankfully.

She has also developed a bit of a crush on Skippy, which is super adorable and he has zero clue as to what to do about it. He looks a bit like a teenage boy who has just been made incredibly uncomfortable when she rubs up against him and flits her tail over his face.

The Catman is quite chuffed with how much she seeks him out for attention. He didn't think she would ever be so loving to him. 

Pretty sure you are yelling at me right about now what on earth have I named them.. Sorry.. I would like to introduce Miss Mouse and Mr. Darcy. 

Naming Day for the kittens & Gender Reveal Party #hedyandthelamarrs

People on Facebook have been asking me for genders. I thought I'd save the reveal of those until they were named because who doesn't love a good gender reveal party. Mary won the naming rights to my next set of kittens and I wanted to make sure that she named a healthy set of kittens. At this point, everyone is doing well so, without further ado..

Orange - m - Sunsweet
Black - f - Midnight
Gray - f - Slate
Marble - f - Dilute tabby
Agate - f - Tabby

It is starting to really look like Marble is going to be a tri-colored tabby, as I am pretty sure that buff color on her face is actually a buff color and will start showing up a little better as she grows up.

Naming kittens is not easy.. Someone suggested that I use gemstone names for Onyx's kittens but I have done that in the past, and I wasn't ready to revisit it. A couple of these names popped up while I was watching Flashdance (MAN Kevin Bacon was young!!), one was a reader suggestion and one came from a clip on the morning news (the entertainment segment). So, without further ado..

Ren

Ren is just loving the camera these days. I have been getting some really great videos for my facebook page.

Milo

Milo is incredibly laid back. You pick him up and he just hangs out, it is adorable. He is solid black but he has a tinge of gray in some of the photos for some reason.

Kreb

Kreb has always been the most "vocal" hissing at me whenever I show up to visit them. He is starting to realize I am not a threat but there are still times that he will. The camera is also loving him quite a bit.

Romy

Romy had a white locket on her chest and a spot on her belly. She is also pretty laid back and she has a nice pudgy belly that I can't stop kissing.

I attempted to take some holiday shots so I can get some Christmas/Holiday cards out this year. I'd share the outtakes with you, but I have a feeling I'd get virtual rotten eggs thrown at my blog..  I'll probably share them when I announce sign-ups for cards. 

Darcy and her Darlings - Naming day

Just a reminder about the Michaela and her Minions Calendar.

Darcy is slightly better but still wants nothing to do with me. She wants time away from the kittens so she sits up on the shelf that is in the cage. She came out of the cage once, that I know of, to look out the window but I caught her out and she hated that.

When I feed her or change out the bedding she sits there with her ears up and looking at me like she expects I'm going to do something annoying but not like she expects I am going to hurt her. I guess I annoy her by existing. I can get her to come towards me a bit if I use food as an enticement and I don't push it too far. I can't get her to jump down from that shelf for food no matter how hungry she is. I can pat her while she is eating, but she really wishes I wouldn't.

I was dubbing around on the internet the other day and ran into two names that I picked for this litter. For some reason girl names aren't coming to me (I have a few other names for the other litter but not all of them yet) so I just googled around and landed on one that I like.. so let me introduce you to..

Zephyrine

Zephie has been having issues with her eyes producing more tears than she needs. I have been waiting and waiting for URI to break but so far she just has some black goop on her eyes and occasionally the lashes will stick together and "glue" her eyes closed. I wipe them and she looks normal. I check her conjunctiva and so far it looks very normal... I hope she outgrows this quickly.

She looks just like her brother except they are mirrors of each other, check out those front legs of her and.. 

Wyatt

Wyatt was not very cooperative when getting his photo taken, this was the best I got. He has a little eye drainage too, but not nearly the issue his sister has..

Spottacus

Because seriously, with those feet, now could I not?!

You can tell he is just about ready to start being able to retract his claws.. poor thing can't right now and I am sure it is uncomfortable.

I have let them out of the cage a couple of times to walk around, but for the most part, Darcy keeps them isolated in the dark because that is where she is comfortable. They still don't have teeth yet, but I am sure that is coming soon.

I have gotten the all clear to attempt to introduce them. I gave it an initial go and Onyx hissed at the cage and when I tried to get her to come by again she refused. I'm going to keep trying because I think they can do each other some good and frankly Darcy's Darlings are going to be too big for that bathroom any day now.

Camping with George - aka Naming Day

George (f) has decided to go camping, and she thought she would bring along a little snack

Marshmallow is afraid to come out of the tent thinking someone might eat him - either because of his name or because he's so cute

Michaela assures him that he will be safe and that she will protect him.

Graham Cracker does not want to be eaten either, he is out of here!!

DoughBoy wonders who is going to protect him from the giant mutant squirrels that are involved in this camping trip

S'more is quite enjoying the camping and hanging out with unicorns.. because when you are in a kitten photo shoot, who doesn't need unicorns!
