Muffin haz a sad

Momma has let our treat stores become dangerously low!! I do not know how we will survive. Why just today this happened..

Momma emptied the chicken dust on the breakfast plates - and then *THEW AWAY THE BAG!!!* I was forced to lick dust up off the ground. That is no way for a proper lady cat to eat a treat..

I think there is something wrong with the momma.. I really do. I think someone needs to send *her* a bag of freeze dried chickens..

Love is in the air..

Regular readers of this blog know that I really like cats in bow ties. Skippy wears one on a regular basis. It totally fits with his personality and he does not mind it at all. Occasionally, I'll remove his bow tie for one reason or another and he just looks silly to me... kinda like when your friend who wears glasses takes off their glasses.

This past holiday season an admirer send us a nice pretty pink bow tie and a jar of salmon treats for the kitties. I knew almost immediately I'd be doing a Valentine post with it. When I saw another pink bow tie at Jet.com recently I had to have that too.  Oddly. though, they put the bow on upside down.

A couple of quick adjustments - I hate bells anyway - and we were back in business.

Must say, these really are adorable.




The salmon treats are interesting. I didn't realize I had never had them before. The chunks of salmon were huge in comparison to other cat sized treats, but not one of the cats complained.

Sadly, Jack is not a big bow tie guy, he tends to start to paw at them if I leave them on too long. but I do appreciate the sacrifice he made for the blog fodder ☺

Vital Essentials Freeze-Dried Cat Treats #chewyinfluencer

For October's Influencer program, Chewy sent us two different things to blog about, the Kong Scratcher and Vital Essentials Chicken Breast Freeze-Dried Cat Treats. Vital Essentials is a line of single ingredient freeze dried treats that come in seven different protein sources: Wild Alaskan Salmon, Duck Liver, Minnows, Ahi Tuna, Rabbit, Chicken Giblets, and the one we tried Chicken Breast.

The package came with a variety of sizes of pieces. A lot of freeze-dried treats also have a lot of dust, that flakes off from the pieces as they rub together in transit and this bag had very little dust, which was nice. What was also nice was Kit was interested in trying them, and she ate several. The reason the bag is open in the first shot is because my husband opened it a while ago to give some to Kit, who needs to put on some weight she lost before we realized she had developed lymphoma.

Fleurp wants to remind you that she is also a princess and therefore she should should totally partake in the treats.

This is not a cheeseburger.. this is a Cheese sandwich with lettuce and tomato, and it's not even edible!!  I wants cheeseburger!

OOooh.. cheese!!  *puts on hopeful eyes*

I brought the bag of freeze dried minnows from H3 down to the kittens..

They tried to make off with the bag

Then I opened the bag and made them VERY happy, especially Rose.

They absolutely, positively LOVED them..LOVED them!!

Seriously, turn the volume up..

H3 Essentials Freeze Dried Treats - a review

This is not a sponsored post. I just wanted to share this with you.

I found yet another brand of single ingredient cat treats and since we are such fans of those I thought I would give them a try. They are made by H3 Essentials

I found them via Cole & Marmalade who partnered with H3 to raise money for Big Cat Rescue as a portion of each purchase will help feed big cats. They come in four flavors: chicken, rabbit, ahi tuna and minnow. You are also offered a 10% off coupon when you go to the website.

Since I usually feed my cats chicken, I decided to buy the three other flavors. I had signed up for the coupon but was distracted before I could place the order so I actually forgot to apply it when I made the order. They send it via email, so when I saw the email a little later I wrote to them and asked if they might give me credit for it anyway. I received an email a few moments later showing they gave me back the credit and then I received a very nice email  from Pamela explaining that she would refund the discount. I was very impressed.

Shipping was quick and they put all three packs of treats in one small box. I guess I hadn't even noticed the size of the packages. The rabbit has 0.9 oz (25.5 g). The tuna has 1.1 oz (31.2g). The minnows only has 0.5 oz (14.2g). Each package is $7.99 but there is no additional charge for shipping.

One thing I noticed right away that the rabbit and tuna treats were different than other freeze dried treats we have had. For one thing, they had the look and feel of kibble.

Here comes the minnow..

The rabbit and tuna treats I was okay with handling. I touched them just fine and tossed them down on the floor for the cats to try. I was surprised they weren't a 100% hit as my cats adore kibble. They were appreciated, though, I wouldn't turn down additional bags to give to the cats.

The minnow.. that just gave me the willies. I would not touch that myself, but I did get a piece of paper to shuffle that thing down to the ground for the cats to eat.  Jack LOVED it and ate a couple of them. Fleurp gave it a try but soon spit it out and wouldn't touch it again. No one would eat the one covered in Fleurp slobber so I ended up picking it up with another piece of paper and throwing it away. I gave Jack more of them over the next couple of days and he ate all of them until a fish head came flying out of his mouth and then he was done.  So I did what any sane rational woman with a bag full of dead fish would do.. I brought it down to the kittens..

Treats? these smell like cat treats? But why do they say DOG on them?!?!?
     Yes, they are treats, and yes they do say dog on them, but their ingredint list is so clean and you like them so much I couldn't resist when Chewy.com offered to send them to us for free as part of their blogger outreach program. Orijen makes really good treats I feel good about feeding to you because they have no plant based ingredients. I get the dog sized ones because you all seem to like chewing up the larger sizes and I don't risk you biting my fingers as I do when I feed you the smaller 'cat' treats. But cat or dog, the ingredient list is the same, and I like that.

Can we have some?
      Yes, you can.

     I'm sorry guys. I didn't realize just how many half full bags of treats I did have.
     

Is Later the name of some other cat, like maybe that one in that room we can't go in?
      No, later is some time after now, like after dinner or tomorrow.

Since it is later, would you like us to eat those and help you empty out that treat cabinet? 
      That is quite generous of you to offer... but I think if I just let you have at it, you would probably make yourselves sick.
      

Momma, why is this blog post so late?
     Well handsome, it is because you kept sitting on me every time I sat down to blog and your "help" caused the post to be erased several times. I simply could not resist giving you kisses and cuddles instead of blogging... and now that you have wandered off to bug your dad for dinner, I have a chance to get this up.
