A new experience for the kittens

One of my self-imposed responsibilities when fostering kittens is to introduce the kittens to as many new and 'weird' things as I can. This helps them be open to the new experiences that are yet to come.

One thing I've found to be helpful is to dress kittens up in clothing. I know, I know, there is a large segment of the population who thinks this is torture to cats, but it is not. It is only a problem if you do not listen to the cat. You only need to get them used to it. Being of a young age where new experiences are learning experiences, kittens are generally very accepting of it.. be it walking on a harness, taking baths, wearing clothing, etc.

Trina could not have cared any less. She had a bit of an interest in the tutu part of the shirt for a moment or two, but she was easily distracted with a toy. Max thought his sweater was completely inappropriate for the situation and tried to nibble it off, but when I told him that it was very fetching he almost instantly turned into a GQ model.

Both kittens adjusted to this new stimulus very quickly and I have no doubt they'll do very well where ever they land.

  1. Too cute! Wouldn't it be nice if they get adopted together as a pair, so much fun for their furever family.

  4. They are just too freaking cute with or without clothes. They remind me so much of Tiny. He is a gray tabby, too, and would look adorable in clothes but the boy would never go for that.

  5. Oh sure, claim it's for their own good, when us...their adoring public...know you've done it just to feed our limitless desire for CUTE! Well done; the squee factor is strong with these two!!!!! 😽

  7. OMG ... I am generally in the "no clothes" camp, though I totally approve of the "new experiences for kittens" rational. But these? Soooo adorable. And clearly they're fine with it, which as you point out, makes all the difference.

  11. Oh, this is too much cuteness! I'll have to keep an eye out for kitten sized outfits for when I finally get some foster kittens.

  12. They both look very smart. Don't let them get overheating jumping around in those clothes!

  13. They look so cute! And you're right about exposing them to all sorts of things. Only makes them better kittens.
