So not having kittens is a bit like..

Dandelions in December (in Maine)
or an elf riding a llama..
I usually go a few months in the dead of winter with out them, I'm just having a really hard time adjusting this year..

  1. Kitten withdrawals eh? Any way you can visit some kittens some where or are you just planning to go cold turkey? I bet some kittens would like some cold turkey!! Does the lack of kittens mean that everyone in your community has got smarts and has spayed/neutered their cats so now there are no unwanted kittens? I wish that was so!

    1. Well I think The Crew might like it if I spend time with them :) I can always go to the shelter and spend time with kitties there if I need more, there just aren't kittens needing foster care here during winter. They do occasionally get kittens in even in the dead of winter, but they are mostly cared for by staff. We are lucky that the spay neuter clinic and the number of low cost opportunities have reduced the numbers, but come spring there will be an influx of kittens again..

  2. you can always take some older ones who would enjoy a home for a change?

And congratulations to Fleurp, cat of the week! What a doll!

    2. fortunately there are no older ones at the shelter that 'need a change' "turnover" is pretty good at the shelter.. I am open to taking in an older kitty, my crew is pretty amenable to that, but I do need to do some renovations to the kitten room before kitten season starts up again

  4. It's Christmas, your furry crew will entertain you well enough, I imagine. Plus you might have holiday things to catch up on. :-)

Besides, we know you'll have kittens again soon!

    Happy holidays, Connie!

  6. I've got still got six to go to their forever homes... one has already been adopted and one needs surgery first, so I'm hoping for four adoptions this weekend.

I won't know what to do with myself with the extra time on my hands.

  9. We can see how that would be a huge change for you. We personally think that fostering as many kittens each year the way you do is unsung hero stuff!!
