FREEDOM!!

and just in time for Fourth of July.

So this post starts with the old saying, Man plans, God laughs.

I had PLANNED on introducing the Spitters to Odilia and Trevor slowly.  Taking each step and waiting to see how everyone fared medically.  We had history of diarrhea, we had history of goopy eyes and a few sneezes here and there.  Stress makes this sort of thing worse, and giving kittens new playmates might sound like all fun and games, but kitties are very territorial so you just never know how it is going to go.

Well Friday morning I walked down to this..

and then I put my camera down on the green tower and Odilia thought I needed a picture of her belly..

They had a grand old time from what ever time the boy escaped until I found them.. the room was a MESS.. So I plopped him back in kitten jail and secured it tight and went about cleaning the room and went off to work.

That night I figured it was time.  When I got to the kitten room everyone was still in good health, so I went about cleaning everything up and moving things back into a 'open door' policy.  Although doing so requires major upheaval to the kitten room.  Things were totally messed up while I worked on getting it unmessy... but in the mean times the Spitters were running around like kittens who had been cooped up for the past month - in other words they could NOT sit still.  Odilia was in heaven having something to chase, but there was a problem in that they could run much faster than she could because they could see the chaos in the room and avoid it.  I swear I could almost hear her say "this is NOT FAIR" a couple of times..

The Spitters are doing wonderfully.  Adele is quite healthy and robust and is almost two pounds!  "The Boy", now being called Keith is second in size and is a few ounces behind.  "The Girl" is the smallest and about a pound and a half.  Trevor is about 1lb 10 oz.. but he's all belly.. his limbs are still very thin and you can still feel his ribs.. :(  I'm considering one of two names for The Girl, either Tina or Clementine.  The first seems to fit, and I like it is the name of a friend's daughter, the second because I started singing "my darlin Clementine" when I was giving her attention.  We'll see what sticks..

What won't stick, us in a cage.. ha ha ha

  1. How fun for Odilia to have new friends to play with! And I think it is good for her.

My human got a little teary-eyed when she saw you are calling the boy Keith.

  4. Odilia Crazypants is adorable and so are those fuzzy black kittens!!! It's crazy when they are cooped up in "kitten Jail" as you call it (I love that) and it reminded me when my two ringworm girls first got the run of a room after treatments and they were NUTS!

  7. I had to go back to that first picture.... too funny. Makes you wonder what they are up to at night. :) Poor Odilia - just when she had it figured out, those newbies get out.

  10. What a lot of fun, for everyone. Good to see the kittens enjoyed one another's company. Odilia will have it figured out soon I'm sure, and those kitten's won't be getting the best of her!

  11. Kitties tend to do what kitties intend to do, and beans best let them do it.

Glad everyone is getting along together.

  12. What adorable bundles of energy and black floofiness, and, of course, we think Odilia is the cutest kitten in the universe and can't get enough of her. It sure didn't take long for the bunch of them to create chaos! Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
