Updates at Casa de Gato

It has been a rough weekend here at Casa de Gato.  We have had some good things and some not so good things.

First off, I had to clean the kitten room this weekend, it was getting rather gross.  I've been keeping it rather warm in there (I'll get into that in a bit) and the poop and pee really were making the place rank.  Have to say though, doing so was not easy...

Not sure if you can see it but Issac Arnold is shivering in the beginning of this second video :(  which is why we are keeping the heater running and keeping beds near by.  As you can see everyone else seems to be doing better.  We started Clavamox to see if it might be a bacterial infection making their stools so liquid, and we seem to have some improvement.  I even saw one real honest to goodness tootsie roll.

Sleeping near the heater

Issac Arnold and Smedley got honest to goodness baths, with soap and running water for a rinse afterwards. They were both fairly good about it, but seeing Issac Arnold all wet makes his thin body condition all that more painfully obvious.  Since there has been some improvement, I don't know if I should push this further at this point or wait it out and see what happens. I fear that Issac Arnold is at the point where he can either get better or die - there appears to be no other chances for this boy. The fact that he is still alive at this point is pretty amazing. I do hope and pray he is a miracle kitty and he pulls through this.

And then just to make things horribly interesting, Jack has started peeing around the house and the urine is bloody.  I haven't been keeping up with the herbs that have been keeping him steady because I have been so caught up with the kittens and losing Smivick and working so hard on making sure we didn't lose another. I was so hoping that he didn't need to stay on the herbs for the rest of his life, but at this point I am guessing what ever damage that Catswell did to him is irreversible.  He breaks my heart because when he is peeing blood I know he must obviously be in pain.

  1. Poor Issac Arnold - he does look very sad. I am sending him lots of purrs. And purrs to Jack too. I hope that getting back on the herbs makes him feel better.

  2. We're purring hard for little Issac Arnold. It's tough being the runt. We hope that the herbs get Jack feeling better, too, and we'll purr for him, too.

  7. Oh it broke our heart to see Issac in the second video. The other kitties have the rounded kitten appearance and I can see Issac doesn't. WE are praying for him to pull through. It occurred to us that the very young and the very elderly look so much the same and both so vulnerable. WE are sending mega purrs.

    *hugs*

  9. Sending loads of love and warm hugs to IA and Jack and prayers that they get better soon. I'll happily act as a hot water bottle for him and carry him on my person 24/7 if that helps...although I am a long way away.

  19. Mom and I don't know how mew do it Auntie Connie, being so strong looking after these wee ones and their Mama's ups and downs. I was a mama cat years ago and can relate to Snow's fatigue with so many little kits hungry and climbing about mew at all hours of the day and night.i have been purring and keeping my paws crossed for the whole family, especially little Issac Arnold. I think he already is a miracle kitty- I will send healing purrs and pray the Clavamox works.
I love how cute they are playing, that's a good sign. Do mew know anyone who knits or crochets? Maybe they could make Issac Arnold a little sweater to help keep him warm.
I send my best for a speedy recovery to Jack, I've had a UTI before and they are no fun. If the herbs help him, that's great. Better to have a solution even if it means taking them the rest of one's life. With my auto immune disease there are medicines and a diet I must be on forever too. It just means we are true royal cats- Jack and I have it made getting to have humans serve us special food. We are not ordinary, we only deserve the best. That's how I see it anyway! MEWHAHAHA!

    Purrs, Ms. Phoebe

  20. a little sweater for Issac Arnold, the mere thought of it is enough to make me swoon.. only thing is though, he's literately covered in his own diarrhea, and I think adding a sweater to the mix would make things much worse..
