A post full of squee (you were warned) #nojoke

I wanted to take some photos of my polygirls for you because so many of you really like their little extra toes. I found they all have extras on their back feet.  Mom has an extra claw but no extra toe.. I was trying to get to know them so I can try to distinguish one from the other when I realized one of our polygirls is actually a boy.. Hey.. their bits are so small on day one.. can't blame me for missing it.. so we have three boys and two girls.. so Mina and her Monsters might actually work. Actual names for individual kittens will take a while so I can figure out who is who.. my job is a lot easier now that we only have two that have very similar markings and are the same gender.  One of the girls also has a beauty mark on her face too - so it shouldn't take too long for me to figure it out.  This might be the earliest naming day ever.. :)

I'm also under the assumption we have three baby daddies.. one for the white footed mackerel tabby kittens, one for the classic tabby kitty and one for the silver boy..  If I'm right then that is pretty impressive considering she found them all during the midst of winter.. but hey.. intact males can smell females in heat from a mile away.

So two girls - then you can have Fiona and Shelob for the girls, and then maybe Smaug and Grendel and Minotaur... if you like classic monsters. It did just occur to me that the English translation of Pokemon is Pocket Monster so you could always go all Pokemon - there are a whole bunch of great names to be found that way.

PS so if you go Pokemon then mom could be Misty.

  11. Oh, please don't name them after monsters! My cats definitely take on various characteristics of their names, so we aim to give them names that will inspire and empower them in all kinds of good ways. I once rescued a calico lapcat (about to be PTS) that I named "Cordelia" — not from King Lear but after a difficult little redheaded girl who continually annoyed her siblings in my favorite book. Boy, that name was apt. My other two cats started living on top of the kitchen cabinets and lost weight from being afraid to come down to eat. We found a no-kill shelter who put her up for adoption as an "only" cat. No monsters, please!

  17. OMC! The toesies! The toesies! We've never seen baby polycats before. I guess that's what my feets must have looked like when I was a baby. (pee ess...extra back toesies is not as common.) ~Ernie
