Happy National Lazy Day with Muffin

Muffin on a pillow

When I saw on the calendar that today is National Lazy Day, I knew it was a perfect day to talk about Muffin.

Muffin looking at the camera

Jack is my soul kitty, but Muffin is my shadow. Where ever I am, she usually is if she can.  Currently, though, she is standing in front of the bathroom door because I put Kit in there with some food and she is really hoping that she can mind meld with the door and make it open.

A few months ago she started telling me that she wasn't feeling well and multiple trips to the vet have been inconclusive.  She has a limp so we are guessing that she has arthritis, even though it isn't showing up on the x-rays.  I have started giving her glucosamine, MSM, and hyaluronic acid mixed in baby food which she adores greatly.

Jack and Muffin tend to hang out together, which is fun. They look like they should be brother and sister as her gray fur is the same shade as Jack's but they are about four months apart in age. Muffin's actual brother is Eli and they are my only set of true siblings... but even that is questionable since I know the shelter mixed several kittens in with their mother when I fostered her... I do not know which kittens were hers and which were add-ons, but they grew up together, so I call them true siblings.

Muffin likes to lay on top of me most of all, but I've convinced her that laying on a pillow next to me is almost as good - which I am very thankful for. She loves it when we snuggle and lets me 'spoon' her all the time. She adores me and I also think she thinks that she is my conscious. She often seems to be herding me into doing cat things like taking a nap and getting a snack (preferably for her) and she is quite opinionated about my getting out of bed to go to work, or getting out of bed for any reason what so ever.. I think she thinks I have failed as a cat.. and yet she keeps trying to school me in appropriate behavior.

  1. I have to say, Muffin is pretty much right - all humans are basically failed cats.

  5. What a gorgeous girl with a beautiful heart! Bear agrees that humans are defective cats. He also doesn't mind being "spooned" or otherwise surrounded in a full body hug; every time still feels super special despite the hundreds and hundreds of times it's happened before.

  6. Ohhh arthritis... what a bear! Mom has me on Depo shots for inflammation every five weeks, and we think it's working very well. We tried Tramadol first but that's a painkiller, and not a good choice. Also on the glyco supplements. - Toby

  10. Muffin is beautiful! What a sweet girl =)
Hope the remedies you have been giving her help with the arthritis. My Oscar kitty, going on 19, also has arthritis, and we have had mixed results with some of the treatments.

  13. Muffin sure is a beauty! Wally has been showing signs of arthritis though we haven't had him officially "tested" for it like taking xrays. We hope the supplements help her.

  16. Muffin, you are absolutely gorgeous. Good luck getting at that food...we suspect that's more likely than training the bean to be a cat.

  19. Muffin is a babe, and I'm glad she is bossing you around. I am bossed by Possum, but before him it was Bunnelina, and, don't tell anyone . . . but I think girls are better at it.
