The multiple surprises of the Groom Ninja #giveaway sponsored

When I went to the Global Pet Expo I was introduced to the Groom Ninja. I was offered a free product while I was there, and I know they hoped I would talk about it but no promise was given and I was not compensated in any way for this post.

When I first looked at the product, I had to say I was horribly skeptical that this thing would work for my cats or anything. Seriously, look at it.

It looks a bit like a hacksaw blade in a piece of wood. I scoffed at the idea but I watched the demonstration and the presenter was quite dynamic and very convincing. The video of the Groom Ninja being used on a horse is really interesting. I thought I'd like to try it with my cats to prove this thing wouldn't work in the real world, so when they gave me a small one I was tickled.

So, how did it work?

Surprise! I was totally wrong about it not working. It worked so well that I immediately got to writing a blog post about it in my head. It tends to work a lot better on my short haired cats vs my long haired ones. This is what happens when I used it on Skippy. The first shot shows five passes on his side, the second ten.

However, what impressed me to no end was that it has been the only tool that has ever been able to get fur off Muffin (who is a dense medium haired kitty) without her trying to kill me. Nothing else has worked. The Furminator will take the loose fur off of her but she hates it and will start snapping at me after the first pass.

Fifteen years old, this is the first time I've been able to get anything to work and I've tried all kinds of grooming devices. Since she is the one who tends to hork up small mice sized trichobezoars during the spring and fall shedding seasons, I am thrilled to have something that helps. It doesn't work as well on Jack; I haven't met a single grooming product that works well on each one of my cats

I wrote to Groom Ninja and asked if they might be willing to do a giveaway with my review. David replied and offered me not one but surprise! three of the small ones to giveaway!! The small size is perfect for cats, but they also come in medium and large sizes for dogs and horses. They also come in a rainbow of different colors and will occasionally do specialty colors to do fundraising like last November they made a silver one for diabetes awareness.

The small one normally retails for $15.95 the medium for $17.95 and the large one for $19.95. If you would like a colored one they charge you $3 more. They also sell a combo pack for $47 with the colored ones being $6 more. Free shipping kicks in when you spend over $23.

So now that you want one too, I hope you will enter the giveaway. (US only)

  1. These look interesting! I'm shedding a lot right now, so my mommy would love to try something like this on me.

  4. I wonder if it would work well on Binga. Boodie has a long, thick coat that needs a combination of combing and the Furminator. I'm single coated so this type of tool isn't really for me. But Binga, with a short, moderately thick coat (and who isn't that fond of grooming), might be able to use it!

  5. Izzy says "challenged accepted". She bites at everything I try to brush her with. I know, she has. I teeth, but I hate upsetting her or making her mad at me. I hope I win!

  8. "I haven't met a single grooming product that works well on each one of my cats." So, so true. I'll add this to my arsenal of dog brush, rubber brush, Furminator, etc.

  9. Apparently, this happens to a lot of us, because I have a drawer-ful of combs, brushes, etc. that work on one but not the other, or work for a day, then never again! Unless it's Patty O'Malley, who will allow anything...lol!

  10. We hate to be groomed especially by the Furminator but plain ole combs and brushes don't do squat. This might work though and help with somemommy not having so much fur on her she looks like she's trying to be a cat! We entered the giveaway!

  15. Interesting. I use a ZoomGroom rubber "brush" on Raven and it works pretty well but it's a static mess. She's not fond of the Furminator, and frankly, neither am I. And like your Muffin, Raven can produce serious hairballs!
