The boys post neuter dinner is brought to you by Chewy #chewyinfluencer

Being a part of the Chewy.com Influencer program, I get to choose one or two items a month for free from a small list in exchange for an honest review This month I was able to pick the Ziwi Peak canned cat food which I thought would be a really good choice to have on hand not only for the the kittens but also for my own cats. Feeding your cats a variety of different proteins is a good idea for several reasons but mostly so you might be able to cover any nutritional holes that might be hiding in just one protein source.

A few things to note, despite the fact that it looks like a 'small' can of food, it actually holds 6.5 oz of food. It is a pate style food and it is 93% fresh meat, organs, bones and green mussels. I really like that the lamb is free-range and grass-fed and is raised free of antibiotics, growth promotants and added hormones. I also like that it does not include grains, rice, corn, soy, potatoes, wheat, fillers, sugars, glycerins, rendered meals, preservatives, TSPP, BPA, guar gum, agar agar or carrageenan. While it does have chick peas, since it does contain 93% animal-based ingredients and the ingredient list is pretty clean, I can deal with it.

Lamb, Lamb Broth, Lamb Liver, Lamb Lung, Lamb Kidney, Chick Peas, Lamb Tripe, Lamb Heart, New Zealand Green Mussel, Lamb Bone, Dried Kelp, Minerals (Zinc Amino Acid Complex, Copper Amino Acid Complex, Manganese Amino Acid Complex), Vitamins (Vitamin E Supplement, Vitamin B1 Supplement, Folic Acid, Vitamin D3 Supplement).

But, would the kittens like lamb?

Yes, they liked it a lot. They ate almost the whole can and then came up for a little cuddle. If you look at that last photo you can see Aloe's tattoo which they give to show they were neutered. I'll talk more about their surgery and adoption tomorrow. I actually gave them a second can so they would have a little something to snack on during the night.

Thank you, Chewy for giving us the opportunity to give the kitties a nice high-quality food. They would thank you as well, but they are a little busy at the moment.

  1. We love this food! It's pricey, though, so we don't get it too often.

  6. That'a a food I considered for Raven since she's on a chicken-free & fish-free diet. I'd have to do a little testing first because I'm not sure how she'd react to green mussel. But it has excellent ingredients and it's was obviously well received by your little ones.
