The kittens big day out

Okay, who shoved us in this box??
The time came over the weekend to take the kittens in to the shelter to be tested and vaccinated.  It is important to get them out of the house, and I haven't been able to do that yet so I was looking forward to this even as I was apologizing to them for what they were about to go through.

I took them in, had them vaccinated, got their nails trimmed (sorta, they still really hurt when they tried to climb my leg later, so I'm going to have to do them again) and tested for felv, and the test came up negative..

When we got back home I coated my hands in stress stopper, and took them out of the carrier one by one and patted them with it and put them on Happy Bear. They didn't stay there for more than half a second and quickly found their way under the couch.

ha ha, you can't get me!!
Since they hadn't had breakfast before going to the shelter I was hopeful that putting some food down would help them forget they were being afraid, and their hunger would win out.  I had to sit with them for nearly half an hour before they came out to eat, and wasn't I oh so shocked at who came out first..

What, I was hungry! ~Faraday
and look at that tail!!  I was shocked it wasn't curled up all curly pig tail style that he has been carrying it when he's been unsure of things.. (the tail says I'm good, those ears however says I am so not sure about this!)   Shortly after Maxwell came out followed by Allie who would not let the boys eat all the food.

I then left them alone for the rest of the day and went back that night to tend to them again. Once again I was something to run from and fear, but we did have some improvement in the amount of time it took them to get over that. Faraday even climbed up on my husband with out anything enticing him to do it.  I wonder if these kittens will ever be lap cats.. I keep hoping..

Awww, poor little things. That must have been quite an ordeal for them but I'm sure with your patience they'll eventually figure out that you're good.
