Many a day I chide my husband for over feeding the cats. He worries about his Kit because she is so small and the other larger and more dominate cats eat first, and he is afraid she won't get any (I am so NOT concerned about that) and I'm constantly telling him to not give so much. Sometimes even going so far as to cause The Crew to miss an entire meal (not an unhealthy thing to do from time to time - especially when well fed) They protest more because the routine is off and not the lack of food. When food sits around for hours in this house, you know the cats aren't hurting for food. I keep telling him he can always give them more later if they are still begging for food..
Well again the other day I reminded my husband he was over feeding and this time he ignored me. I had recently purchased drumsticks and beef chunks for The Crew to chew on to help their teeth. Prior to this, someone would always chew on the bones and suck the marrow out, but this time around no one was particularly interested. My little carnivores have gone soft. Chew their food?? Rip and tear flesh from bone?? oh the horror!
So this is what we were left with..
There was one drumstick left and my husband wondered if Meira might like it.. I plopped it on top of her food and offered it to her. She ate all around it and when I took it out of the dish so she could eat the rest of the food she basically ignored it. She licked the food off of it a bit later, but nothing. *sigh* I wondered if these cats remember they are carnivores?? I decided to leave it for her and put it on a near by plate. Either she would chew on it a little later when she got hungry or I would throw it away in the morning and this is what I found when I went to feed her this morning...
This so showed me that The Crew are spoiled puff balls.. I'm considering stopping at the butcher and getting Meira a Cornish Game hen..
