The kittens want you to know that is NOT a present

Max wants you to know that I received a gift bag today, and he was not amused by it. It might look pretty, but it was not to his liking.

Nope, he didn't like it one bit, because this was what was in it. Trina wasn't amused either. Unfortunately for the kittens, it was time for their vaccines and deworming. I thought it was just so adorable that they were sent home in the gift bag.

Nope, I do not like this one little bit! Yucky stuff being shoved into my mouth and the lady poked me with something sharp.. it hurt! She's so mean!!

What do you mean she did it for our own good?

They have their appointment to be neutered on the 16th, so that is when they will be leaving Casa de Gato. Until then, I get to listen to them sing and carry on about life.

This is my Happy Place

I was very pleased with how well the kitten's first official photo shoot went. They were very interested when I put the background up and not scared of it at all, which was nice. As soon as I got out the feather wand they were fixated.

They are doing very well. Interestingly, they are rather picky about food, but once I found things they will eat they have started to fill out a bit. I sent an email to the shelter to let them know that Max is two pounds three ounces and Trina is two pounds even. I think they should stay another week to fill out a bit, but it isn't up to me. They are well socialized, adorable, and now they are snuggly kittens. Max is a bit mouthy and will nibble on you. Trina is a licker. She is a hunter.. a fierce and focused hunter who loves playing with the pole toy, Max is far more laid back in his play and will totally back off when she gets her groove on.

Max wants to know everything

Max wants to tell you a story of what happened the other day. Don't let him fool you at the end, though, as he totally did not get what he wanted..

I know, I know, I spoiled the ending for you, sorry. I made a pumpkin lasagna last weekend and the CatMan decided to finish off the last of it. As you can see, Max thought that was very interesting and he was sorely disappointed that he didn't get a taste.

Eating with kittens is an experience, that is for certain.

The post where Jack brings me a mouse

I've been using a magnetically locked cat door so Jack and Muffin have access to a litter box upstairs. If I let everyone use it they would and it would be a huge pain and always needing to be cleaned and the bathroom that it is in would stink. The cats have their own room in the basement with wading pools for litter boxes and we prefer they go there.

Having the magnetic key on their collar can make for some interesting predicaments. One time it was a can of cat food, another time it was a fork. This time, it was a mouse... and it took me way longer than it should to figure out why it was sticking to the magnet 😼

Muffin is trying out Cosequin thanks to #ChewyInfluencer

As I have blogged about recently, Muffin has been having some issues walking down the stairs. She will do it, we have seen her down there from time to time, especially if I am spending too much time in the kitten room and she thinks it is time for us to go to bed, but she prefers not to.

When trying to figure out why this is happening, I took her to the vet and we had some x-rays done to see if she had arthritis. Nothing showed up on the x-rays, thankfully, but the vet definitely noticed a diminished range of motion for her and said she is developing it. Being that she is 14 years old, going on fifteen this year, it is pretty common for older cats. Jack is also showing signs of it.

When I saw that Chewy was offering Cosequin in the February Influencers offerings I jumped at the chance.

Muffin wasn't that into posing with the Cosequin because Fleurp was still finishing off the Solid Gold food we were also reviewing.

I think Muffin is actually glad that I'm finally giving her medication because when Jack and Fleurp get some they get a treat and she is constantly asking for one too, and I tell her that they get one for getting medicine. That girl likes her treats - but only the ones she like unlike some of my other cats who will eat anything.

The 30 count comes in two blister packs and is currently selling for $8.96 (about $0.30 a capsule). They also have an 80 count bottle for $16.60 ($0.21) and a 55 count bottle for $12.95 ($0.24)

Since Cosequin is a supplement, it can take a while to see the benefits of it. It is made up of a combination of manganese, glucosamine, and chondroitin which is beneficial for the cat's (and dogs and humans and horses) joints. They have also found that it is very helpful for bladder issues for cats too. Nutramax flavored the Cosequin so that you can open the capsule up and sprinkle it on the cat's food if you would like; many cats really like the flavor.

I'm not sure that Cosequin is going to help Muffin's involuntary tremors, but it will help with her joints, which can only help her feel better and make it easier for her to go down the stairs if she wants to do that.
