Former Foster Friday Freeforall

In years past I haven't had foster kittens in February so I've done Former Foster Friday February and done posts about the few fosters I've kept in touch with on each Friday... but this year I have kittens, so I haven't reached out and asked for photos.

But a few photos have found their way to me via Facebook, so I thought I would share them with you.

I'm starting out with Gandalf. He is settling well into his new home with his new brother.  I'm glad because only kittens often have a very hard time adjusting to other kitties because they often don't 'speak cat' and they end up not understanding one another.  I'm glad to see I did a someone decent enough job helping Gandalf learn 'cat'

Looks to me like Bridget and Dave are thrilled with their new boy.

I also received an update from Kathleen, who went to visit Sharon and Gail and hung out with Winn and Bella.

Look how big they are getting, and what sleek looking teenage kitties they are!  Fortunately, Sharon shares a lot of photos and videos of them, but because of that sometimes I just want to drive up there and snatch them back they are so freakin cute. (then Jack comes and sits on my face and the urge passes)  They too are also quite smitten.

Not to be outdone with uber cuteness, Kathleen then shared photos of Maxwell and Ducky

These two amuse me to no end.  Ducky actually developed a pretty pronounced set of bow legs, which I have found a little odd, but they do not bother him at all, and it just adds to his charm. Kathleen, I am thankful every single time you share them with me. And when you share my other fosters with me, like Buddy (formerly Garp from 2014)

It is so nice to see him.  Speaking of Winn and Bella, I would be remiss if I didn't share with you Errol and Flynn.

They are also doing very well. Flynn is still a lover boy, and Errol has definitely blossomed into his true self - a lover of chickens.  Just kidding, but he is doing really well, I am so happy for him. Not that I'm not happy for Flynn, but I knew he would do well wherever he landed.

I would be remiss if I didn't include my heart-kitten Isaac Arnold and his brother Smedley.

It still aches that I was not able to keep him, but Anne does a wonderful job of keeping me supplied in photos of them both. They are both amazingly ridiculous, and I love them dearly from afar.

Anne's sister Deb also adopted from us, and she also shares photos of Perkins from time to time.

and it appears he is just as goofy today as he was when he was here.

There are more out there that share their photos from time to time, and I am obnoxiously grateful each time it happens.  I also adore it when I see other foster homes sharing photos of their former fosters in homes too. So if you have one of mine, or someone else's.. send their foster mom a photo and a few lines about how well they are doing and about their personality. It will totally make their day!

Thankful Thursday - Muffin

I love my goofy girl so much.  She is usually quite dignified and likes to present herself in a way that she looks beautiful, but when she wants attention she climbs up on my chest and rolls around and rubs her face against mine looking for kisses. She will get jealous if Jack is on me getting attention and she will walk over him and lay down on top of him so that I have to give her attention - which often leaves me with 25 pounds of cat on my chest and limits my breathing until I cry uncle and push them all off.

But somehow she allows Skippy to invade her space and snuggle up to her when we are having our snuggle time.  I haven't quite figured out why she lets that happen as Twee can't come within three feet of her without her getting upset.

But the kitty that gets her going the most is her brother Eli.  I am not 100% sure they are related but they did grow up together from the time they were just a few weeks old.  Whenever there is a knockdown screaming cat fight, it is usually those two. They both know just how far they can go because they grew up together, so I generally don't intervene until it gets on my nerves.

Her bestie is Jack, they can often be found laying near one another... well when she isn't laying on me.

A review of #Chewycom and Tiki Cat Gourmet Carnivore Variety Pack

This month Chewy.com through their blogger outreach program sent me a Tiki Cat Gourmet Carnivore Variety Pack to review for them.

I chose the variety pack because of that face. That 'unimpressed with every canned food offering given' face. She is eating dry food well enough, but I so want to get her and her kittens on a better nutritional road and canned food is far superior to dry in that respect. She is a lover of gravy, licking it off of the foods that I give her and then moving on to the dry, so I was hoping that these foods, known for their high moisture content, would tempt her into getting something into her, and when her kittens saw her eating them might partake as well.

I was less than pleased with the packaging this month, mostly because my cats love both the box and the brown paper that Chewy sends. I understand the attempt to save money on packaging and shipping by using a padded envelope, but my abhorrence of an over-use of tape made me long for the box and paper.

I was surprised that the variety pack showed up in pretty good shape. There were a few dents in the cans but they were pretty minor and didn't effect the contents within. You can see the tiny dent on the Seabass Luau can below.

As you can see there were nine flavors in the variety pack. Beef & Liver (1), Beef Liver & Chicken (2), Beef Liver & Lamb (1), Bonito Tuna (1), Chicken & Liver (2), Chicken with Duck (2), Chicken with Turkey (2), Seabass (1) and Tilapia (1). This gives you a good selection to choose from. The cans are only 2.8 oz, so for me they aren't a full meal on their own, so I ended up putting down two of them for Lemonade to try. First up, Beef Liver and Chicken.

Lemonade gave it a sniff and a lick but she wasn't all that interested, so I offered her a second can. This time, I opened the Bonito Tuna Luau.  Not being a fan of seafood in the least, I knew I was not going to enjoy opening this up and serving it, and I wasn't.  Seriously, look at it..

But what matters is not if I like it, but if the cats do, and she ate about half of it while we were in the room, and because she spent time eating it, the kittens came over and tried it too. When I went down the next morning all of the food was gone but a few strands of the liver/chicken food. I was highly impressed since this was the first time she's given me a clean plate.

I like that Tiki Cat offers this variety pack as it gives you a way to try a variety of their foods without that large of an investment. I like that it was offered to me so I could find something that this kitty would eat.

Thank you Chewy for another great month of products and getting my foster kitty to eat something!
