Red Nose Day was founded by Jane Tewson and Richard Curtis (writer and director of TV and films including Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill and Love Actually) and the first ever Red Nose Day in 1988 in the UK. Red Nose Day has now come to the United States to help raise money for children and young people living in poverty.
This is such an adorable thing, I thought it would be an absolute riot to go to my local (well it is half an hour away) Walgreens and pick up a red nose and use it to take the kitten's seventh week photos. Sadly for me, but amazingly for the campaign, they were sold out. The clerk that waited on me told me they sold out of all five million noses they ordered for the campaign with in the first few weeks. Fortunately they did have stickers. I also went to a party supply store and purchased a nose just in case I needed it. The stickers provided some of the best photos.

The kittens were far less cooperative this time around, not surprisingly, which is why I don't have both regular and nose'd photos for all of them. Hopefully next week we'll do better - because I will need good photos for their adoption cards.... well three of them anyway ;)
Those babies didn't seem to have the same enthusiasm for Red Nose Day as you did!
ReplyDeleteMOL at Summer's comment. Somehow, the sticker-on-the-nose thing didn't end up such a hit... but they're terribly cute even when they're looking a little perplexed.
ReplyDeleteIt's great Red Nose Day campaign is such a success!
ReplyDeleteSuch cute pictures. I really love the last one with the bear :-)
What is the neat little gadget in the last few photos? A red ball on a wire?
ReplyDeleteit is an ornament hanger, meant to display Christmas ornaments without a tree. I was given a hand blown glass ornament once and it hangs off that - well when it isn't being used to house red noses ;)
Deletebwaaahahahaha..... we are glad the campaign was successful - and the sticker was hilarious (did The Kraken hide out to avoid getting his picture taken?)
ReplyDeleteno.. he is one photogenic little kitty that I saved a number of his photos for another post.
DeleteThe kittens are truly adorable! And who has already been spoken for? Kraken????
ReplyDeleteInterestingly enough The Kraken still doesn't know where he is going after his stay at Casa de Gato
DeleteCute!
ReplyDeleteWhewwww......dodged another bullet! We didn't know about Red Nose Day (and, uh, Aunt Connie, we need to TALK to you about informing her!!!!)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great cause! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a great cause, but the kittens don't seem to care a lot about it MOL ! Purrs
ReplyDeleteMOL!!!!

The kits aren't so excited about Red Nose Day, are they? ;) The mom thought about trying to make us wear a red nose for Red Nose Day. We nixed that idea.
