Mashed Potatoes
To help convince the kittens that I am a "good thing" I brought out the "best toy ever"© which of course promptly scared them out of their petrified little minds. The fastest way to a kitten's heart outside of food is having a toy act like prey, so I slowly dragged the toy across the floor doing my best to make this thing act like an injured mouse. After a few minutes of feeling quite foolish, because I couldn't even see the kittens, Potato came out and started investigating it. Once he got his paw on it, he was hooked. Yukon was not convinced this was a good thing, but he knew that Potato's tail was super awesome, so Potato chased after the toy, and Yukon chased after Potato.
Potato now thinks I'm pretty cool. Yukon is going to need some more convincing. I've got the TV on full time to keep him used to the sounds of humans and I've got Rescue Remedy in the water bowl which hopefully will keep his anxiety level down to a minimum. Fortunately, I am able to walk right up to him and pat him, but he still runs to a corner when I move too fast. Potato's confidence helps though.
Now, on to the cute photos
