The Big Snip

or probably more accurately a little one..

On Wednesday I took Miss Odilia in to see the vet and had her neutered.  I talked to them about her eyes and the bump on her head, and warned them not to scruff her and went off to work.  I got a call just after lunch from the vet to tell me how things went.

He said he took a look at her eyes and while he didn't feel comfortable "prying them open" he said he did get a peek inside and he agrees that she does not have eyeballs. Everything she is able to do is with hearing, smell, touch and pure spunk! :)  He said things looked fine and there was no need to do anything to them or with them.  The spay went uneventful and she was doing very well.  He also got a good look at the bump on her head.  He said he got a good look at it and even attempted to aspirate it (put a needle in and take out fluid if there is any, cells if there isn't) and he believes it to simply be some scar tissue and is nothing to worry about.  Although doing it gave her a new funky "hairdo"

Don't worry, it really isn't that noticeable in person.
He could not give her the rabies vaccine because at this point her paperwork said her birth date was her intake date and thus not old enough.  We will get that straightened out and get her vaccinated before she goes up for adoption.

I also took home her booster heska vaccine.. I don't like to do those on days of surgery, so she will either get it today or tomorrow depending on how busy I am.  I'm intending on bringing The Spitters into the shelter for their booster vaccines and some revolution as well, so we will see how it all goes.

So all is well and we are right on track for her adoption in just under three weeks!

  2. I'm so glad to hear everything is going as scheduled, even if Odilia did get a reverse mohawk in the bargain! That little girl never fails to impress me.

  4. Yeah....good news for Odilia. Tell her not to worry about the haircut - we had one here with a similar look for a while (Miss Greta had a bite abscess on her head - in about that spot come to think of it). Love the belleh spots!!

  13. Looks like Odilia came through like a trooper. Mommy loves her so much and sure would like to adopt her, but she says that she bets people will be lining up to have Miss Odilia join their family. And our daddy won't let her adopt anymore kitties right now. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  15. So they shaved her belly AND her head???!?!?!? Poor little puffer-nutter.

The Roo would like to know where Odi's tattoo is. She talking smack about being cooler with ink, yadda yadda yadda.

    1. no tat.. Miss Odilia is ink free.

Vets haven't invested in tattoo machines as there isn't a huge call for it up here. It is pretty rare that a spayed cat will end up at a shelter without a visible spay scar. It does happen from time to time, but not so much that any of the vets have invested in equipment.
