The post where I introduce you to my three bottle babies
I got an email yesterday asking me if I might be willing to take on some bottle babies. It wasn't for the shelter I regularly foster for, but one I have in the past and the one I emailed early in the spring while we were on the great kitten watch to see if they might have kittens to spare.
I assumed that if they were emailing me for help with bottle babies, they must have a great need. I inquired about them and was told there were three that were two weeks old. Two weeks are a wee bit young for me since I have a job and I need to sleep through the night to function, but I figured I only had one full work day, since I only work a half day on Friday and then it would be the weekend and by the time next week rolled around they would be three weeks old and for some reason I feel that is more appropriate (don't ask, I often don't make sense to myself either)
My next issue is that they were half an hour away from me and I had to work until 6. I mentioned this and was told there was a co-worker who would be going through my area tonight, so we made plans to meet up. Fortunately for me she wasn't going through until after I got home so I got out of having to go anywhere or worry about transporting the kittens home.
So I have three little tabby kittens. Two boys and a girl. Two robust ones and one who is a bit underweight and I can feel his ribs. The girl's face reminds me a wee bit of Issac Arnold in that she has a smallish skull in comparison to her feet, but that might just be my quick assessment. They will be getting fed as often as they would like, but I won't be bothering them too much with photos until the weekend.. they will be going to work with me for this week anyway, and most likely next week as well, at which point hopefully I can start weening them. It is young, but it can be done, especially if they get supplementing. I just hope they don't wait till seven weeks to think food is a good thing; I had that happen once, I was not a fan.
