Adoption day part one
The social media presence was strong with this group, as well as one very strong advocate in their corner and before they were neutered we had three of the four kittens adopted. Sharon and Gail laid claim to Winnow and Belladora weeks ago and recently Lori asked about adopting a kitten and settled on Flynn as the best fit for her family.
I had guessed weeks ago that they would be ready for adoption this weekend, and everything fell into place and they were ready and arrangements were made to all meet up at the shelter today at 1pm.
Poor Ethan Errol didn't have anyone signed up to take him home but I brought him along in case I could convince someone they needed yet another kitten, and if not the outing would do him good. At the last minute I did get a message asking if he was available and I sent information saying he was and saying I was heading to the shelter now but we could talk more later.
When I got to the shelter all three ladies were waiting for me and applications were all filled out and paperwork was almost complete. I felt a little bad that I wasn't there before them, but I was about five minutes early (and since I worked in the morning I really couldn't have been there any earlier) so I pulled the kittens out of the carrier and gave them to their new families. There was much ooo'ing and aaah'ing and squeeing.
Ethan Errol wasn't thrilled about coming along until..
Yup, Ethan Errol went home with Flynn. And yes, I did a happy dance in the middle of the lobby.. and no, I didn't cry but yes, it was close.. It also looks like they will all be keeping their names.
This is a first.. the entire litter was adopted without being put on the adoption floor. Only took 12 years.
The shelter has a Home for the Holidays promotion going on and so everyone received a t-shirt for adopting..
So by now if you have been paying attention you might be asking 'but.. but.. what about Lovey??"
that is a post for part two..
(and no, I don't have kittens at the moment, but I do have my name in for more so paws crossed I won't be kittenless for long)

Yeah yeah yeah!
ReplyDeleteThis made me tear up. :-)
ReplyDeletePaws crossed that Lovey has a happy ending, too.
That is so wonderful. Merry Christmas to the kittens and their new families!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not too proud to say I just clapped and cried (hiding from co-workers)! YAY YAY YAY!
ReplyDeleteWinnow and Bella have been home for about 2 hours and are already running about, happy and learning the lay of the land. Gail and I are so happy too! They are so friendly, beautiful and just perfect in every way! We will always be grateful to Connie for the loving care she gave to these kittens which is why they are so loving. We will post pics when they settle in a bit more. Great fun night with our new kittens!
ReplyDeleteYay to a sweeping whole-litter adoption - and yay to an update already on Winnow and Bella! Wonderful news!
ReplyDeleteThat made my whiskers a bit weepy wet while I was doing a happy dance. Hooray everyone and bless you all, especially Ethan's Mommy!
ReplyDeleteThere is something special about adopting siblings together. I've had two different sets of brothers, and they were always together - sleeping, eating, playing. When I have room to adopt again, I'll definitely be getting a pair of siblings.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful! I know they will all make their new families furry happy. What a wonderful Christmas gift.
ReplyDeleteAw, this really made us happy. :)
ReplyDeleteWow!!! This is the BEST news! I am so totally happy for all the kittens!
ReplyDeleteBest news ever! All the kitties have home for the holidays.

ReplyDeleteOh how wonderful! I'm so happy they will celebrate Christmas, and many holidays from now on with their forever family!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!! When kittens are so well loved and socialized, they thrive and get homes much faster. You are a wonderful foster mom. Yeah!
