Adventures in Cat Sitting

Taking care of Nancy and Trixie has been interesting. I am not the momma, so I'm not one they really turn to for comfort, but I do have hands that are nice for scratching chins and ears, so they have use of me.

The grumpy growling has abated quite a bit. I was asked to trim nails but the girls are not used to having their feet touched so I spent most of the weekend getting them used to being held by me and my touching their feet. Nancy came around rather quickly and I had her nails trimmed by Saturday. Trixie is much less trusting and she growls at me when I push too hard which sends Nancy into a set of growls. Trixie has a few mats on her pants and I've been trying to take care of those too. Fortunately, she is quick to forgive me but not so quick to forget. I shall go slow, and hopefully, I'll be able to get the rest of it taken care of soon.

On the home front, Fleurp is doing better weight wise. I'll probably start tapering her off the pred in the next few days. Muffin seems to be visiting the water bowl a little more often than necessary for a healthy cat, so I'll be keeping an eye on that. Skippy is currently curled up in my lap resting his head on my arm, it's kinda cute.

  1. It's hard working with kitties that are not yours... even if they used to live with you. I'm glad Fleurp's weight is improving.

  6. Flexing some different 'cat care' muscles with these two, compared to kittens, eh? Glad Fleurp is improving; hope that Muffin is okay.

  7. At least they are getting good care while their mom is away. They're a couple of beauties.

  10. You already reached to the point you trimmed Nancy's nails. That's so amazing to me. You are really good at taking care of kitties!

  11. Trimming nails can be frustrating. Always have to keep an eye on the cats for other than normal behavior, signaling some kind of problem.

  13. They are beautiful, but it's not easy to take care of kitties who are not ours. Purrs

  14. Trixie and Nancy sure are beauties! I'm sure it's a challenge to get them to trust you in the short time you're with them and then (possibly) break that trust by trimming nails and combing mats. I'm sure you're a pro however.

It's good to hear Fleurp is doing better! Hopefully, it's nothing serious with Muffin's increased water intake. I'm never sure if the kitties here are drinking more water or if I'm just not paying enough attention each time.

  15. They are cuties. Clipping nails and brushing mats is tough even for our own cats so you are doing good.
