I think the kittens are dealing with Calcivirus

While I'm not seeing the typical mouth ulcers, I know they don't always show up. It has been a weird presentation for sure, with most of them just complaining a bit more than usual. Ugo had a fever first, but he was still eating. Then he had a bit of an eruption on his lip. Unique wouldn't eat but had no fever, no discharge at all, and now Uli (aka Ike) has a fever but is eating but he seemed to have the very slightest limp. Uma has a bit of inflammation and then a bit of discharge on her spay site, but has not had a fever and not had any other issues.  So it is a guess.

I am hopeful that they will all be better by the time the weekend is over.. mostly because I feel so bad that they aren't feeling well.

  3. Hoping your outcome is better than mine. My pet cats caught it from the fosters. Mei Mei has to get a steroid shot every 6 months because she stops eating, drops 3 pounds, her teeth and mouth hurt her, but no rot yet.

Professor Fuzzywinkle had steroid shots and teeth pulled, he's only 3 so we're looking at him likely losing all his teeth.

Unfortunately, the steroid shots are going to stop working and removal of all teeth isn't always a cure-all so...

  10. Poor kittens, poor you. So frustrating when it's not something straight forward. Calici is just mean -- hope it's not that.

  15. Oh, no, I hope it's something else, or a very mild case, and I wish them all a quick recovery. We went through it with two cats after little Possum arrived with it. There are far worse things but it's still lousy all around.
