and not a speck of food left in the room at dinner time.

Of course dinner was taste tested and then promptly ignored in favor of running around like the ADD kitties that they are.

Tiki follows me out of the kitten room now.  I tried to "scare" her and showed her to Twee who was once again sitting outside of the kitten room with a toy.  Tiki looked around Twee to see the rest of the room and Twee looked around Tiki trying to look in the kitten room.. at which point all four remaining kittens promptly walked out of the kitten room.

So I put up the baby gate..

Helping Theo

So I have been weighing Theo every time I see him to make sure things are still in "OK Land" and once again last night he weighed 1lb 8 oz.

This morning I picked him up and brought him over to the scale and held him while I turned it on.  It takes a minute to zero out and be ready, so as I waited all of his sisters who were screaming at my ankles decided I wasn't paying enough attention to them so they jumped up on the couch then over to the window ledge where the scale currently sits.

I put Theo on the scale and before it could register his sisters started to join him.  Since I was pretty certain getting a reading of 7lbs wasn't going to help me one little bit, I tried to shoo them off the scale.  Well if you have ever tried to tell (or even ask) kittens to not help out, well then you just enjoy - the rest of you can laugh at me.  I look down at Theo's weight only to find it reading 1lb 0 oz because several had decided to walk UNDER the scale.. *rolls eyes*

so once again I shooed kittens away, but by this time Theo was totally done being weighed.  So either he weighed 1lb 8 oz, 1lb 8.5 oz or 1lb 9oz.  I couldn't tell.

But he ate his own breakfast again this morning, so that is something.

(and no, his sisters don't bully him.  I think he was the one with the upset tummy from having not been dewormed and was the originator of all the vomit around the room and he just decided that eating meant vomiting and he wasn't keen on doing that.  I think we are at the point where we just have to break that association and he'll start putting on weight)

Fancy Feast Mornings aka watch your fingers..

So back in July I won three cans of Fancy Feast Mornings cat food from http://www.catladyland.net.  It was fun to win, and the package arrived very promptly.  So why did I wait till September to dole it out to The Crew?  Let's see.. seven cats three cans.. you do the math :)

I know I know.. I could have purchased a few more cans myself, but I just didn't (OK fine, I kept forgetting!) so when I went to pick up some more food for the kittens at the shelter and saw a few extra cans there I nabbed them (I don't usually abscond with shelter resources for my own cats, but I do quite often purchase supplies for the foster kittens so I figure they more then make out on the deal) and happiness ensued.

Are we FINALLY going to get this mom??

Crowds bug me momma, so I'm cleaning up the dinner plates

but it smells kinda yummy, lets see if there is a place for me..

Twee got some uninterrupted time with the food.  She is so hard for me because I love giving treats to my kitties and they love eating them, but Twee WILL NOT compete for food.  She just waits everyone out, and if they eat it all on her, well then she just goes on about her business.  She doesn't seem to mind, but I totally do.  Even if I try to separate her out to give her food, she won't eat it.  And as you can see, Jack so won't give up till all the food is gone.  I swear he is the kind of kitty who would unbuckle his pants if he were wearing any! :)

So, 28 paws up for FFMs.  I can't completely agree because I'm not a fan of the ingredients, but I care less about ingredients when it is a treat, which this totally was.

(I was not compensated for this post in the least.  I did get three free cans of food, but it was not requested nor even suggested I blog about it.  The kitties however feel they were compensated in the best possible way ever. They will do pretty much anything for food!)

Theo update

So I mentioned the kittens weren't gaining weight.  Well Theo seemed to have things the worst.  While he wasn't losing weight he was still growing and thus he was starting to feel like fur and bones.

I broke out the turkey baby food and while that interested him, he is the most dainty eater I've ever seen.  I've seen week old kittens eat more heartily then he does.  Don't get me wrong, it was freakingly adorable, tiny little licks taking tiny little bite, but I needed him to eat a lot more then he was going to be able to so I force fed him.  That did not go over all that well to his dignity, but I'm sure his body appreciated it.  I was hoping that by getting him started he'd take the next few steps on his own.  Sadly I didn't see huge improvement, but he did go over and have a few bites of the raw we brought down to entice them all to eat.

Yesterday this happened..

Yup that is Theo walking around, taking a sniff then voicing his complaint over the menu.  He walked away and I picked him up and cuddled him for a while.  Still feeling boney I decided to break open a can of kitten formula.  I offered it to him and he had a few dainty licks and walked away.  Yea, well, that wasn't good enough for me, so I force fed him enough to fill up his belly.  He wasn't happy with me, but he let me and didn't spit it out which I considered a victory.

I also found this.  See the blue in the middle?

Apparently he got a piece of litter stuck on his penis when he was peeing and when he 'put it away' the piece of litter got stuck.  It took more the just a flick to get rid of it.. Oh the things I will do for kittens.. :)


He is still very happy and active and a general pain so I'm still not 'worried' about him.

There are currently almost 170,000 kitties up for adoption on PetFinder.  Your local shelter is more then likely filled with kitties right now and there is more then a good chance that your 'ideal' cat will be there.  I know that people want certain breeds of kitties, and I can totally understand.  But don't think you HAVE to get a pure bred cat from a breeder.  They are turned into shelters all the time.  There are breed specific rescues all across the country.

In the spirit of Mo' Cat day, if you can have mo' cats right now, please consider it.  If you can't, please mention it when ever you can if you hear someone thinking about a new kitty.
