Gandalf the Great
I'm sorry I was so quiet last week, I don't do well with the changing of the year so I generally just avoid it. I also didn't have much to report. Gandalf made baby steps each day, well probably more accurately kitten waddles. He went from being able to eat four bites before resting to five; he didn't cough as hard as he had when I would medicate him; he seemed more interested in play. He still breathes rather hard, but I imagine that is the worms in his lungs causing the problems.
He seems to be eating better, and I've started reintroducing canned food, and hopefully he'll start eating it. Despite putting on six ounces, he's still rather thin. I am just glad that I can no longer feel his spiky backbone. Sunday he was much more active and wanted to play more and more despite ending up huffing and puffing rather quickly. We just took it slowly and let him relax when he seemed to need a break.
He goes in for a recheck on Wednesday and we'll know more then. I'm not sure what their plan is, nor how long after treatment they think it is safe to sedate him, so we'll play it by ear... I would say he is going to be here at least through the end of the week, but probably longer.

I am sending lots of healing purrs so that Gandalf gets better quickly - all the sooner to get his permanent home!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Connie & Crew! May you receive your heart's desires with ease and glory in 2016. Purring for sweet Gandalf, loved his photo shoot in your last post.
ReplyDeleteI pray Gandalf makes 100 % recovery.
ReplyDeleteHe sure is a little character. We hope he feels better soon so he can find a forever home. This is the time of year when the kitten supply slows down up there, isn't it? He should have lots of suitors when he is ready to find a home.
ReplyDeleteHe already has a family who has signed up to adopt him.. and if not there have been several other inquiries..
DeleteI hope they're the type of family who'll update with pictures! :)
DeleteWe agree - more Gandalf!
