Twinkle and Happy Bear have a conversation

Twinkle: Hello Happy Bear
Happy Bear: Hello Twinkle. I hear you are magic.
Twinkle: Well I am a Unicorn, magic just follows me around.

Happy Bear: Santa is magical too.. *sigh*
Twinkle: What's wrong?
Happy Bear: well I asked Santa for kittens and he gave me mittens. It's not that I don't like mittens, I do, but I don't have much use for them in here, and I just love having kittens

Twinkle: I hear you are very good with kittens
Happy Bear: Thank you, I do my best. It's just such fun having them crawl all over me, and cuddling them when they sleep on my lap.

Twinkle: Have you considered that maybe Santa was just giving you mittens as a placeholder gift?
Happy Bear: Placeholder?
Twinkle: I have a feeling that he knew your gift was going to take a while to get to you..
Happy Bear: *gasp* what was that?

Twinkle: That, my friend, is magic.
Happy Bear: I wish I could clap my paws. You're good!
Twinkle: Thank you. His name, as given, is..
Happy Bear: MITTENS!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mittens has been in foster care since October. He simply has a major case of failure to thrive. They haven't really figured out why he is not gaining weight. He was at one foster home, then with the foster coordinator for several weeks, and now he's with me. He urinated in the carrier on the way home but then found the litter box once he was here and produced a very nice, if not smelly, poop. I offered him some raw food, which he immediately inhaled and asked for some more, so I gave him more.
Three months old and only one pound four ounces. He has a bit of a smell to him because he's apparently not a fan of grooming. I will probably give him a bath in the next day or so. He is NOT a fan of being scruffed, acting as if he was in pain when I did so (I was trying to verify gender since the coordinator used both genders while talking about him). He had a brother who was very healthy and is already neutered and adopted. Considering how much he liked the raw food and how he came running over to me when I opened up a can of food (so he had options) I'm guessing he won't be here that long, but that really depends on his little body and how ready it is to catch up.
He is more than a little ridiculous. His eyebrow whiskers are so long they interfere with his eating. I'm seriously considering trimming them down to a more manageable level. I know they say do not trim a cat's whiskers, but in this case, I almost think it is necessary; I will give it a day or two to see how much they get in his way. Husband doesn't think he is a Mittens.. but is more of a Mozart. What do you think his name should be? (Twinkle Spirit is taken)
Happy Bear: Twinkle?
Twinkle: Yes, Happy Bear?
Happy Bear: with that magic stuff, do you think you could work some for Raffe? He's been looking down lately.
Twinkle: Already done my friend, already done.
  6. We like the name Mozart too. Heavens, he's tiny! We certainly hope he starts to gain weight under your care.
    And didn't we just know Happy Bear wouldn't be very long without at least one kitten? :-)
  7. Oh, oh, OH! What a fabulous little dude! He is adorable. Though my heart cracks a little bit at how tiny he is. I HATE failure-to-thrive. So frustrating. But sounds like he may be on track with you. Good luck!
  8. What a sweetie. Mozart really should be his name. What with that bedhead fur and the extra long eyebrow whiskers. Here's hoping he/she starts to thrive under your care.
  13. I'm sure if anyone can get Mozart (love that name) to thrive, it's you, and your magical assistants, Connie! He or she is an adorable little waif.
  14. I wonder what he will look like when he gets big! He will get big eventually. I cannot think of a good name at the moment.
    I have to agree that he looks a bit eccentric and somehow suits the name Mozart :D
  26. I'm glad Happy Bear has a new kitten to snuggle. Hopefully he'll thrive with your loving care. Oh, please don't trim the whiskers....they are so "him" and he'll grow into them.
    Once when volunteering, I named a shelter cat "Twiskers"....he had Twisted Whiskers.
