Black Cat Photography for fun and amusement

Trying to get photos of black kitties without natural light is "fun". I thought I would try getting artsy photos with my 50mm lens but it was having a hard time figuring out what to focus on.. I very much need to upgrade my kit lens but I still haven't gotten around to it.. Maybe Santa will bring me something

As you can see these were taken before they were neutered last week. I also had a lovely series of photos of Graham falling asleep. I decided to put them in gif form

  1. Great shots and loved how you captured little Graham falling asleep. His memory lives on forever in photos and videos.

  3. She photographed well! Plush turns into a blob with eyes. I suck as a photographer. I don’t want to be great at it but good enough I can use my own stuff instead of stock. My cats are cute enough :)

  4. As far as photographing black cats, meowmeowmans recommended focusing on their eyes, and it's made my pictures of black cats in dim cages a little better...

  7. Angel Graham, you were a darling!
I play with natural lighting all of the time with our housepanthers, and the results are mixed. The Hubby wants me to find a large piece of foamcore or white cardboard that he can hold up to reflect light towards the cats. I haven't gotten that into it yet, but the day is coming...

  9. The mom knows how hard it can be to take a pic of a black cat. We think you did really good.

  10. Gorgeous! We know a little about how hard it is to take panther photos. Just beautiful.

Sending a little prayer for angel Graham. Run fast and free, sweet angel boy.

  11. Photographing housepanthers is tricky, for sure! You did a great job! :)

I always focus on the inside corner of the cat's eye. How about you?

  13. Black cats can be really hard to photograph, but those are pretty good! I didn't realize you had no natural light in the new kitten room.
