For the past couple of years we have decorated the Christmas tree with all of the cat toys of the house. Well maybe not all of them, I mean we do have a lot of them. It made me smile to do it and I know the cats enjoyed it. Nothing is more enticing to a cat than something familiar in a new place in the house. They got something new to play with and I got to decorate the tree every day :)
My husband has been dreaming of having a really really big tree in our great room since we moved into the house. We've been doing fake trees since we found a beautiful one on super clearance after Christmas one year. We like real trees, but they are a lot of work neither one of us really wants to take on. I figured the $10 we invested in the tree would be worth it to find out if we could live with fake and we never went back. But last year we were at Walmart and once again we found fake trees on super clearance, and we found a 9 foot tree for 75% off. He wanted the 12 foot tree, but when we got home and measured he realized that it wouldn't fit. Fun thing was the tree came with ornaments! Nice shiny plastic non-breakable ornaments, how perfect. (we did eventually get them away from Skippy) Since this was a tree my husband wanted, I told him he could decorate it any way he wanted.
When we first got married we had a slew of ornaments. We got married on 12/22/90 so lights and ornaments were never an issue :) We also met on a carousel (how many people can say that??) and so we had a lot of carousel ornaments. Then we got a number of cat ornaments. We probably have enough ornaments for three trees. I think he did a fabulous job decorating this year..
We also have garland on the railing around the stairs to the basement. and on that there are seven little stockings, all hung with care..
That tree is beautiful! Nice job hubby! From the bit of your home on the video, it looks like you have a beautiful home too. I like all the Christmas decor. We are being lame this year and doing nothing, :( No $$ for that stuff this year, bummer. Fun to see the kitties, especially that beauty at the end of the video! Gorgeous!!! Oh, and we had a winter wedding too!
ReplyDeleteno money was spent this holiday season on decorating. The tree was new but it was like $20, everything else is probably 10+ years old.. :)

ReplyDeleteYour home and decorations are lovely, and your DH did a great job with the tree. I laughed out loud when I saw Fleurp chewing on the needles! Benny does this every year, and I've cleaned up four needle pukes already this season. I can't think it tastes very good, but it doesn't stop him.
