And the kittens are full of sneeze

Another Monday, another update.

ha ha ha.. do you really think you can get all four of us in one shot looking pretty??
The kittens are doing well. They developed a small but consistent sneeze last week. I waited for it to turn into something or to go away, and sadly it is doing neither. I do have to admit I am sick and tired of being sneezed on - but it is nice that they are all comfortable enough with me to do it so there is that.  Only Glimfeather has feral issues now, and that is a fear reaction when we walk through the door. It is not strong enough that she runs, but she does flinch until I am able to get my hand on her. I am hoping in a few more days she won't even do that, but then again it might take some time for her to out grow it.

Hey look, no photoshop involved..
Glimfeather has also really taken to Lena. She has since day one. Lena was less than impressed with this little black kitten that followed her everywhere and tried to nuzzle on her. The relationship at the start was very much one of a young teen annoyed that the younger sibling wants to do everything and be everywhere that the teen does. In time as Lena mourned her sister, I think she developed a bond with Glim, and I quite often see them together... but not always. I'm a proponent of keeping kittens together that love each other, but doing so does reduce their chance to find a home quickly. I'm also still very bothered by what happened with Peter and Tinsel four years ago. So I must decide if Lena would be better off going home with Glimfeather or if she is okay on her own. So many changes for one little kitten.. Generally I am okay with that because that is the way of the kitten, but I guess watching Lena mourn touched me.. I want to do what is right by her - well to the best of my ability anyway..

The Owlettes are now about 2lbs 4 oz so I need to contact the shelter about seeing what they need before they go back to be neutered. I have a feeling by the end of the week they will be making weight if not the beginning of next. I hope there are some more kittens for me once these are gone or we are going to have to start the great kitten watch of 2015.

  2. It rarely seems like you get to hang onto those kittens long enough - we get attached to them, and then they're gone!

  3. Sounds like you need to be covered in kitten kleenex! Hopefully the sneezes will be gone in time for them to make weight for their neutering.

  6. hopefully they are just messing with you with the sneezes. it would be nice if as fosters we could convince people that two are better than one....it amazes us how often people adopt one and then can't figure out why the kitten is making them nuts. some rescues require it, but we don't think that is the answer either. (oh - and mom says we are on kitten watch - we say we are watching Daiquiri but mom says that isn't what she means)

  10. We've had the sneezies in our house too. First Sampson, now Caster. Tis the season, I suppose. So sweet that Lena and Glimfeather have bonded. Hope they are able to be adopted together.

  12. Hopefully the sneezes go away, the girls reach their weight to be neutered and then find their forever homes. Little Miss Lena is gorgeous, tho I must admit I'm a sucker for the little gray tabby (Athena?)
