A cat tree in full bloom
I was walking through the house the other day and came upon this sight. It is rare that all the perches are covered on the tree, despite the fact that this is one tree is quite loved. In fact, this tree is actually over a decade old having arrived at Casa de Gato on January 24, 2003. It moved from our previous house. I really think it is time for a new one, in fact, several of our trees need replacing.
Having scratching posts that cats can climb and scratch and perch on up off the ground not only saves my furniture but also gives the cats a great deal of happiness and security. Being able to survey their territory from up high is a very typical cat behavior.
Since I am looking for new ones, anyone have any recommendations? Know of any good sales going on?

All's well at casa de gato we see.
ReplyDeleteEmma and Buster
That tree is in much better shape than ours, which is about the same age! I see lots of humans at cat shows selling custom, handmade cat trees. I don't know about prices, though - I mean, kitties don't care about that sort of thing!
ReplyDeleteThat does look like a much loved cat tree! Our oldest cat tree (20+ years!) has been refurbished so many times and needs some work again, but it's Ashton's "safe place" where she will interact with a limited number of humans, so it isn't going anyplace. Both of our trees are homemade. Is anyone nearby handy enough to make a tree to order?
ReplyDeleteThat tree looks much better than the one we bought about five years ago and had to trash last year - it was rickety from the start. I haven't seen any anyplace I could afford that seemed any better. I'd hang onto that one!
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted one that had a "woodsy" look to it. There's a guy who makes and sells them in southern Wisconsin. Yours doesn't look to be in that bad of shape, actually.
ReplyDeleteEbay has the absolute best prices on cat condos, and most of the suppliers offer free shipping. Of course, then you've got to put the thing together, but even *I* managed to construct one without too much swearing.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure my UPS guy hates me, considering the number of giant packages (crates, carriers, condos, etc.) I get delivered to my house. Sorry, UPS guy!
our rescue gets them at Costco sometimes at good prices.... that is a nice one though
ReplyDeleteWe just bought a really nice one at Home Goods - Molly and Friends brand, already put together, and about half the price it would have been anywhere online.
ReplyDeleteThis photo reminds me of the crows sitting on the playset at the school in "The Birds", by Alfred Hitchock made in 1963...lol!
ReplyDeleteThe cat tree looks still in good condition and is obviously loved by all.
ReplyDeleteLove that picture of cat tree in full bloom :-) It does look in good shape to me, but I hope you find a nice replacement!
ReplyDeleteWe too think it looks in good shape. And clearly loved.
ReplyDeleteYour cat tree has pretty flowers ! Purrs
ReplyDeleteWe love seeing the tree in full bloom. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is cute.
ReplyDeleteI love this title. It's perfectly appropriate for this cute pic!
ReplyDeleteI am assuming you have refurbished this a few times, considering its age. It looks to be in great shape! My refurbishing skills are minimal. The cat tree we have is only a year old, but it is a tattered mess. I occasionally trim the frayed bits, but wish I was handy enough to make it look more presentable.
ReplyDeleteactually, we never have.
