I am totally in need of kittens, so I said I would take them. I met the possibly pregnant kitty and she has milk sacks so I have to wonder if she had kittens and was separated from them. She was freakin adorable, a petite and young little black and white kitty that reminded me a lot of my Ollie, save for her dalmatian feet.
My momma cat is named "Lemon" and is appropriately named because she is a bit of a sour puss.. well no, that's not a good description of her.. she is attention seeking and loving and climbed right up on my lap, but she is quick to growl. When I put down food for her she missed it so I caught her attention and pointed it out and she growled at me the entire time she was walking over and inspecting the food.
She looks a bit like a coon to me, with the ear tufts and the big fat feet. There could be some NFC in there it is hard to tell. Regardless she is stunning with her golden eyes and her floof. She ran right over to meet my husband so she appears to like men, or maybe just him, since all the lady kitties seem to love him.
She came to me with two pieces of floof..
They haven't had a lot of human interaction because they are quite skeptical of me. The black one is less skeptical, and willing to let me interact with her. The tiger one would really like it if I would just go away. I can pick her up if I go slowly and don't startle her.
They are both girls, and they came with the names Smitty and Smiley, which we are not keeping. I will wait and let their true spirits come out a little before I start thinking up names for them. I was told they were six weeks, but they look like a young five weeks to me. No idea if they know the birth date or not, no idea where they came from or how they ended up in the shelter system. They will be with me until the kittens are 2.5 pounds and are in good health. Since I've already seen a nice solid stool, I'm hopeful that won't be an issue and we will just be putting weight on them and getting them used to people.
So are you as in love as I am?
Wonderful little creatures! And Lemon reminds me a bit of my Cammie. Hissing is just her way of telling me she dislikes something. And she dislikes a lot.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! This is great news! They are all wonderful and... challenging! So much for thinking there are never any kittens in February!
ReplyDeleteOh my, they are adorable - the whole family! I can't wait to see the youngsters come around... as I know they will.
ReplyDeleteVery much in love!
ReplyDeleteLemon sounds wonderful, growls and all!
ReplyDeleteLemon sounds wonderful, growls and all!
ReplyDeletethat is a LOT of fuzzy cuteness (and some serious looks of disapproval all around)
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous trio!
ReplyDeleteThey are some expressive kittehs, that's for sure!
ReplyDeleteExcellent floofiness! But I'm worried about that mama cat separated from her kittens...
ReplyDeleteThey are so cute! I love how floofy they are. :) I have a feeling that they will warm up to you in no time. It is hard to believe that kitten watch is already beginning! Maybe it is the weird weather this year getting things started early.
ReplyDeleteYoung kittens have very irregular heat cycles and generally have them out of season.
DeleteI literally sucked in my breath when I saw the first picture of a little one. :) They are all so precious, though.
ReplyDeleteThese fluffy kittens are very cute ! Can't wait to know their new names ! Purrs
ReplyDeleteThose kittens are adorable! I love those spotty toes in the first photo too.
ReplyDeleteI think you are just wonderful to take in and care for so many kittens and what cute kittens they are
ReplyDeleteWe're going to enjoy watching how all of these kitties do. We love mama cat's Dalmatian feet. :)
