What better way to celebrate #GetaDifferentNameDay than having a naming of the kittens
Naming this batch of kittens has been hard. Partly because the kittens aren't very social and partly because I have been under the weather a great deal of the time I have had them.
I wanted something unique for them, because when I hit upon the right name a kitten goes from a ball of fluff to a celebrity kitty - think The Kraken.
I saw the other week that today was Get a Different Name Day, and I thought what better day to have a naming day... which then put pressure on me to come up with names. I asked for help and a number of you offered some great suggestions. One idea I really liked was to name the kittens after lemon flavored treats. For a while, I settled on Zest and Sprite.
The little black kitten reminds me a bit of a monkey with her pouncing and jumping and climbing and throwing herself into whatever interested her. A sprite is a small creature that has magical powers: an elf or fairy or an imp. That completely worked for her, so she has become Sprite.
The little tabby is so reserved, and so cautious that Zest didn't seem fitting. I came across the term wryn, and I liked that a lot. So I looked up what it meant and came up with: Gaelic-small blue song bird. See wrynn, wren. With her cautious nature, it seemed fitting. Further research into the name also seems like it would fit her. I was very tempted to forgo and pick a lemon treat name for her because it was such a fun naming idea, but I couldn't seem to do it, so she became Wryn.
And since it is Get a Different Name Day it doesn't seem fair to leave Lemon out of it. She is way too sweet to be a Lemon, but Lemon seems to fit so...
she has become Lemonade.
