Welcome to Casa de Gato

There are new kittens in the kitten room. Five little kittens who were being raised by a feral mom when they were recently caught. It was decided that they would spay the mom and return her to where they caught her, but that the kittens would go into foster care.

The good news is they are handleable. They are eight weeks old, three girls two boys, and surprisingly when you get your hands on them they aren't violent. Bad news is they want nothing to do with grabby hands. Yet again I take on the role of the enemy. *sigh* hopefully that won't last too long.

I did a swap of kittens at lunch time, so I didn't have a lot of time with them initially. I set them up in the cage figuring they would just hide when I walked in the room and I needed to assess them. I was able to easily pull them out of the carrier and put them in the cage. I gave them a litter box and some food and went back to work.

When I got home I started cleaning up the room from the last set of kittens. Fortunately, they were very healthy so I felt I could get away with a light cleaning. Someone wanted me to let him out.

Well at least until I spoke to him and took his picture, then he was all like "who are you and keep your grabby hands to yourself woman!"

I took them out one at a time and gave them a once over. Each one had their nail trimmed and a few had their ears cleaned (it looks like they used to have ear mites, so they'll need another cleaning in a few days)   So here is what we have.

Black boy

Tiger girl.
She is missing her rear right foot. It looks like she has a knee,
but I'm not completely sure. It does not slow her down at all.

Tiger boy

Tiger girl: she has an interesting coat.
You might think it looks a bit like a bengal coat.
It's hard to tell at this point, but it is pretty

Buff tiger girl. I love her pencil mustache

Each kitten was put back after the nail trim and once-overs and I forced them to walk over me if they wanted to get out. The little black one was out of there like a shot. He had things to investigate, and stuff to wappy paw into submission. The little buff tiger girl is the most timid and was the last out and she hid the entire time I was in the room, but the rest of them..

  4. Aww, so cute! Love the little tripod girly! My cousin's cat is missing a foot exactly like that, doesn't slow him down at all. (Well, ok, he didn't do great on the tile floors in the shelter she works at, so she brought him home to foster on carpet til he could figure out tile walking and he wound up staying!)

  5. Awww. Gorgeous, gorgeous kittens. It's so hard to not push them when they want nothing to do with you. My first instinct is to try harder, but that's the WORST thing to do.

  6. So sweet! And another group saved... and even more saved in the future because these guys won't make more out in the wild. We look forward to the adventures to come.

  7. Adorable! That golden tabby girl is beautiful! Oh! I love that little moustache. ;-) (That's how we spell it in Canada) That's exactly how little Baloo is; touchable but does.not.want. I can't wait until the meds are over so hopefully he'll hate me less. Good luck with your gorgeous bunch. (And yes, the missing foot just makes her more special.)

  10. The orangey tiger is pretty. I'm curious to see video of the kitten with the missing half leg.

  16. Adorable! Now it seems to me that last batch of kittens (and Art3mis) wanted little to do with you too but it wasn't long (at least from my perspective) before they were enjoying the love. I have no doubt it will be the same with this batch.
