Just because it isn't the way I want it..

Just because it isn't the way I want it doesn't mean it is wrong.. (rinse and repeat as many times as necessary until I start to believe it)

I had a couple of different plans for last night.  One was I was going to sit in the sauna with the kittens and see if I couldn't get some better interaction with them.  I also knew that they would need to be going back soon.  When I got to them last night it didn't go well.  Evelyn wasn't too bad, but Frida hissed at me.  I decided it was time.  I couldn't keep them locked up in my cage all day with no interaction and leaving them unattended for most of the day roaming free was making them regress too much.  I after a little chasing around the room I packed them up and brought them back to the shelter.  I feel bad.  I wanted a Christmas miracle for them (I wanted them to not run when I walked in the room).. *sigh*

I do believe that being at the shelter is their next best step.  Probably even better than my quitting my job and spending the day with them because it will help them get used to a lot of people and the hustle and bustle of activity.

I say this with even more confidence now than I had the first time I said it.  I've seen it with other timid kittens there, but when I went back I had a little visit with Jackson and he was sitting right at the door with two little medium haired tortie kittens.  I opened the door and was able to pat him with out his running nor flinching.   Elsa wasn't at the shelter and I was hopeful that she had gone home, but instead she has gone out to a satellite adoption center.. they have pet stores and pet friendly stores that have a cage and staff that care for animals to help them get better exposure.

So paws crossed and lots of purrs that they do well.  I don't think I'll go looking for updates from them because I want to think the absolute best.. that a very sweet kind family who has the patience and the time gets them just as they start to blossom at the shelter and take them home and spoil them rotten and they end up spending their nights on warm beds with full bellies and ear scritches on demand..

There were no kittens who needed me, so it looks like I'm done for this year.  You'll just have to put up with photos of The Crew until spring..

  6. Get him Muffin!!!

I agree, it can be so hard. Moonshine and Gin are SO much better at the house than the adoption center at Petco, but they won't get adopted that way. So, they have to learn to deal (and I have to deal with the Petco staff, but that is another story). It is so hard when you know what is best but it is hard to see them go......

  7. I definitely think you did your best, even with taking htem back to the shelter but I know it must be hard.

I love these pictures of Muffin! Great shots! What a beautiful and silly kitty. :)

Thanks for your note about Lucy's situation. We saw her doctor earlier today. She has an infection and received a shot that will hoepefully clear it up in a day or two at the most. She got some fluids and she's back on her pain meds but a lesser dosage for the pain of the infection but also just the pain of the trauma. Other than that, it seems that she's doing really well.

  12. Muffin, those are some serious kitteh yoga moves you got going there!

About those kittehs...we're sure you did more for them than you think you did. Those kittehs are now ready for the next chapter in their little lives, and by deciding what you did, you were doing what's best for them.

We're purring for the best for them!
