Thank you @CBS and The Bold and the Beautiful!!

So I heard about "Morgan Spurlock Inside Man" and the episode on pet rescue from Jeanne, I went to my 'find shows' on my Tivo.  I found the episode, but I also was reminded that I once saved a search for "Kitten" which would show me all shows that had the word kitten somewhere in the name or description..

Oddly enough The Bold and The Beautiful popped.  I thought how odd since I recently found a news article online about a B&B actor showing off his new kitten.  I didn't pay much attention to the article, but seeing this listing made me look at the description of the show.  It said "Hope and Liam show off their new kitten"

Photos taken of my TV..
The kitten lover in me rejoiced in the fact that someone adopted a kitten, even if it was fictional, but the cynic in me wondered what kind of pure bred kitten this might be.  At the last minute I decided to record it and see what it was - and oh was I so totally overjoyed when I watched the episode. (and I was shocked to find the episode online - CBS isn't usually video friendly)

Since I came into this at the very end of the story arch, I did a few google searches and found not only did they do a three part story arch (with the above link being part three) but it started off with "Liam" interviewing Bob Barker.  "Liam" is doing a story for his magazine.. (which is repeated way too many times during the segments) and what better way to start than talking to the man who has been an advocate for homeless animals for decades (on the same network)

Now being a network show, there are quite a few advertisements in the above links.. 1 before you start, and five for each commercial break of which there are three for each 30 minute episode. You can skip over the segments that don't have anything to do with the shelter, but you can't skip over the commercials.  If you don't want to go through all of that, check out this.. a highlight of it at another website. (and here is another website talking about this)

With over 4 million viewers of this show, I can only imagine the impact this story line is going to have on the people out there.  I so hope this changes some people's minds about shelters and helps them understand they ARE a place to get an animal and many are a wonderful resource if you need help or have questions. (sadly that is often limited to the larger shelter, but I would encourage anyone to contact their local shelter and see what help they can provide, or direct you to if you need help)

* Bob Barker says that shelters will keep your name and number and will call you when a specific breed comes in if you are looking for a purebred animal and there isn't one there. Most shelters do not do this, but will refer you to breed specific rescues. There are a LOT of pure bred animals who have been surrendered to the shelter. A quick search of Petfinder.com will show you just how many.

So way to go CBS, The Bold and The Beautiful and the South Los Angeles Animal Shelter.  Thank you so much for doing this..

Wow. This is great! To take a film crew into a shelter and show a lovely healthy cat coming out is going to surprise a lot of people who don't know this.

You are right, with such an audience, I wish they could do it more often and I love that Bob Barker…such an amazing advocate for spay/neuter!
