A very special Toesday: Natalie needs a home

I was in the shelter the other week and one of the workers asked me if I might like to adopt a kitten. It was said in jest, but there was also a grain of truth in it because you know if someone asks you that sort of question they have a kitty that they want to find a special home for. I can't blame her, I've said similar things to others.

When I was in the other day I was called into her office, I rightly assumed it was to see said kitten, and I can completely understand why they are looking for a good home for her. She has a few special needs

As you can see she has radial hypoplasia, but she also oligodactyly. She has pads and toes, but she only has eight claws among all her feet.

She is an absolute love, and likes to be held close to you with her head in her neck. I was told she drools when she is happy and likes to nuzzle and suckle. I picked her up and there was a moment of hesitation while she was unsure if I was going to know how to hold her right, but once she realized I knew what I was doing she became very happy. She let me move her into different positions so I could get some good photos of her. She apparently is a little spit fire and while she doesn't do stairs well and she would strongly prefer carpet to hardwood or tile, and she will probably never make it up on to the bed without a ramp, I was told that she does very well.  Much like Odilia, I imagine that she doesn't realize that she is impaired.

She also has a slightly odd nose

She is an absolute doll, loving, sweet, cute, playful, adorable... and very much in need of a home. She is up for adoption in Maine.  Since she is at a shelter, if you are interested I would have to get you in contact with them and the particulars would go from there; but if you do adopt her, updates would totally be required.

  1. SQUEEEEEEEEE!!! I adore her! She reminds me of Odilia in many ways. I would so love to have her if I were able. I know there is the perfect home for her waiting and will keep my paws crossed this posting helps her find them.

  2. Oh, what a doll! It sounds like she's going to make a really great family member to the right family who can make an accommodation or two for her so that she can join in all of the fun.

    2. Under Ground Railroad Rescued Kitty Network (URRKN) is an organization that arranges for transport for kitties to other parts of the country. I am a member and volunteer driver. If you are truly interested, I will be happy to get you the info so that you can find out if transport is possible for this precious angel girl.

    3. I've been working on my husband, but he says I'm at my limit with 4 cats. I would still like to learn more about the URRKN though.

    4. Check them out on Facebook. It's a network of volunteer who will drive a leg of a transport to get kitties from point A to point B, no matter the distance in between. It's amazing and powerful. Let me know if you have trouble locating it.
