So, what would you name a kitten?

I made a reference in yesterday's post that today was another one of those weird national days.. well I was wrong. When looking up the official name of the day I was reminded that it is actually next Saturday.  Sorry for the tease.

So I've been trying to come up with names for the kittens and haven't been having any luck.  Do you have any kitten names you like? Preference is given to names that aren't 'human' names.. if one of them was male I totally would have named it McFluffins or Puffnstuff.

So, shout it out.. don't be shy.. what names do you like?

  1. I tend towards people names, but I usually chose European - most often Romanian, Hungarian or Slavic (my Doberman is named Zarya Aurora), "old-fashioned" (Linus, Hiram, Harvey, Myrtle), or just plain odd names (my other dog is Delia, from the Johnny Cash song). More of a guarantee I won't run into someone with that name :-)

  4. They say the test of literary power is whether a man can write an inscription. I say "Can he name a kitten?" SAMUEL BUTLER (1612-1680)

  5. There was a feral colony where I lived for part of my childhood, and my family gave them food names. E.g. Munch; Munch's kittens Nacho, Taco, and Chip; and Munch's brother Salsa and younger brothers Cream, Butter, and Dip.

Dance style names would be fun, too! Jive, Salsa, Merengue, Cha Cha, Disco, etc.

Or philosophers! Plato, Aristotle, Rousseau, Hobbes, Locke, Socrates...

  6. I have no inclination towards them names or even preset ones in my head. I just go for the name that best suits the pet. my rescued from a snow bank kitty I named Sweetums, the kitten my niece gave me I named Luna- she is all black with tiny white hairs like freckles on her body. her name with my niece was Little Miss. but i didn't want to call her that.
my family growing up, had a habit of calling our pets after foods: pepper, biscuit, chocolate, whisky, cookie....

  7. Let's see... the mama's name is Lemon? The kitties ought to be named after fruits. Citrus, Cherry, Kiwi, Mango, Peaches and Cream

  9. My human is famously bad at cat names! Boodie had to name herself! I came with a name, fortunately. So don't ask her.

  12. Yesterday, I was SUPPOSED to get a pregnant mama cat to foster (didn't happen - booo). I was going to go with Superbowl-themed names - Carolina, Denver, Cam, Peyton, etc.

  13. As you know, we have a Beatles theme going on, and there are oodles of names there. Just think of the possibilities for non-human names if you use the song Savoy Truffle. ;-)

I like the associating their name with Lemon. Other fruit as already suggested. Or maybe things that are made with Lemon? Sprite, Tart, Jello, Cream Pie (or Moon Pie!), Limoncello, Meringue, Cupcake.
