Merrick's Thanksgiving Day Dinner from Chewy #chewyinfluencer

I wasn't sure I was going to get kittens who could try out this food in time to properly participate in the Chewy.com Influencer program (where they send me free things and I blog about them), so The Crew lucked out.  This month, as well as the dog treats we tried out earlier we also received a case of the Merrick Thanksgiving Day Dinner Canned food - which they make for both cats and dogs.

My cats are raw fed for a variety of reasons, but on rare occasions, we don't thaw enough food out they will get canned food and it is always well received.  While there is a lot I do like about Merrick and their foods, most of their foods include a lot of plant ingredients like carrots and peas and so that means it is something I generally do not feed.  But it is Thanksgiving after all, and The Crew was grateful.

I saw a few other posts regarding this food prior to my opening up a few cans, so I was not surprised to see holes in a couple of the cans.

However, I was quite surprised by the fourth can I opened.. This hole was much bigger so I decided to pull out the scale and see what was going on.

That was a dramatic difference in weight. I wrote to Chewy and told them what was going on and they replied and told me that they appreciated my feedback and would contact Merrick to let them know this happened.. and then they offered to send me another case.  A whole other case of food to make up for Merrick's problem. Talk about awesome customer service (especially since I didn't pay for the first case)

but.. what did The Crew think of the food??

I think Skippy is afraid he'll have his ears nommed on if gets in the frey, so he held back, but when I offered him food separately he really liked it.

I was a bit surprised at how much was left over. When I walked down the hall a few minutes later (in the general direction of the bathroom where Fleurp gets canned food laced with her supplements when she is anemic) both Fleurp and Muffin ran down the hall as if to ask for more food. They were nearly frantic.. despite the fact that there was a plate of food still in the kitchen. So I turned around, grabbed the plate, and put it in the bathroom - where it was promptly cleaned to within an inch of its life.

  6. Whoa! That's a big weight difference, one that would throw off any daily caloric figures (for those of us who keep tabs on such things). Sounds like the food is a hit!

  7. We were kinda disappointed to see that this food contains carrageenan. We would have tried it for sure if it wasn't for that.

  8. Looks like a meal my group would like. The problem is, once they had it, they would turn their noses up if they got their regular food served up to them!

  10. Chewy is just the best. I wished we had requested some last month but somehow I missed that the Thanksgiving cans were available for cats too until it was too late...
