So last month I went to Kansas to visit Amy and she and Lisa took me over to the shelter they volunteer for to show it off. Wayside Waifs was very impressive and beautiful. We spent a great deal of time walking the grounds and through out the shelter: seeing their veterinarian suite, seeing intake, the treatment areas, etc. but you know me, my favorite part of any shelter are the kitties. And they had some beautiful kitties there. Please know that your local shelter also has beautiful cats and kittens just waiting for you to come visit them.
Wayside has this beautiful mobile in their main entrance. It is not motorized but it spins all on it's own. It was pretty impressive and I fear I did not do it justice.
This is their adoption area, with their gift shop behind it (through the glass doors in the middle in the back) but this post isn't about Wayside, it is about the kitties!
all this little kitten needed was a tin cup.. |
Nebelungs are awesome where ever they are.. |
Amy and Lisa making a video to highlight the kitty. Their videos are awesome, view this one.. |
This is just the first in a series of posts about my trip, although it is probably going to take me a while to get them all done..
My human really wants to visit Wayside Waifs someday... as if there aren't enough big rescues here for her to visit, MOL!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful shelter and the kitties look so happy and healthy. Such a stark difference from our local shelters.
ReplyDeleteI love how colorful this shelter is....makes adopters feel like it's a happy place. And of course the cats are beautiful and adorable!
ReplyDeletegreat pictures (as always). love their building - that mobile is amazing! and that first kitten...oh my how pitiful MOL
ReplyDeletejust in case anyone is wondering; I am pretty sure all kitties in this post have been adopted and are sleeping in fur..ever homes.
ReplyDeletePam that is absolutely awesome!! Thank you for commenting to let us know!
DeleteWhat a beautiful facility and the mobile is amazing! The kitties are all so precious.
ReplyDeleteThat shelter is a stark contrast to the one in my city as well, and to the boys' former shelter (about half an hour away). They must get some significant donations and be top-notch at fundraising--that's fantastic to see!
ReplyDeleteWe were so very glad to show you around Wayside!! (oh, and BTW, that mobile was created by an amazing group of artists at Hallmark as a gift to the shelter!)
ReplyDeleteI'm especially proud of the fact that Wayside takes in kitties like our handsome Nebelung, Snuffle, even though he was FIV+. And yes, Snuffle was one of our staff and volunteer faves - and he's in a great forever home now!
(thanks so much for posting about Wayside! :-)
DeleteSo many beautiful faces!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great facility. The mobile is just astonishing. And we like how most of the cages have the plexiglas fronts, so they don't look like jails. That makes them a lot more inviting for potential adopters who look inside.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed visiting Wayside. It was so nice to meet you!! - Bonnie, Feline Care Manager.
ReplyDeleteLooks like such a great facility, how wonderful! Love the gorgeous kitties and so happy to see from the comments above that most have been adopted...purrs to any remaining for finding wonderful forever homes.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great shoot!! Makes me want another kitty :)
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love Wayside Waifs! Many years ago we adopted a dog from them and they remain one of my favorite shelters. Great photos, especially the beautiful kitties!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great place - I loved reading most of the cat are adopted and in the furrever homes!
