So the other night Eli climbed up on my husband's lap.. While this is becoming his new norm, after going through 8 years of his not letting us touch him voluntarily, and 2 years of his tolerating us touching him with some reservation.. Well each time he does this we are thankful that he has finally come to accept we are not going to intentionally hurt him.
That is so great that he has a little bit more trust. Trust is earned with kitties... and the harder it is to earn, the more valuable it is.
ReplyDeleteAwww, that just melted my heart! Way to go, Eli!
ReplyDeleteI hope he learns to love to cuddle.
ReplyDeleteYay Eli! He'll be a snuggler before you know it!
ReplyDeleteGood for you Eli!!! (though mom just groaned thinking it could take 8 years to get Junior to trust her)
ReplyDeleteOh that's wonderful. He looks quite content there.
ReplyDeleteThis is so wonderful! Eli looks so happy and comfortable there :-)
ReplyDeleteAwww that is just so lovely,xx Rachel
ReplyDeleteEli you are a reminder all things are possible! Nearly 10 years ago I so wanted Boo to be my lap cat. She would never sit in my lap. So along came Abby. I want you to know a few weeks ago she decided my lap was vacant and it was OK to climb in. She doesn't sit with me every night, but just about. I had to wait 10 years.
ReplyDeleteSo sweet! Eli may never become a snuggler, but this gesture of trust and affection is HUGE.
ReplyDeleteYou GO Eli! Pawbump for bravery...*bump!* Snuggles are the BEST.
ReplyDeleteThat is really something to be thankful for...and to smile about!
ReplyDeletePaws up, Eli! The head peep feels that way on the rare occasions Ashton sits on her lap. She says it makes her heart grow a little. That kind of trust is such a reward when you earn it.
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful…Eli is a handsome cat. Our Ziggy has had many hesitant years and is finally really starting to behave like the rest of the brood with us. Was totally worth the wait.
ReplyDeleteThat's so great for you...and Eli!
ReplyDeleteThat must have made you feel fantastic!!
ReplyDeleteThat means he's actually been trusting you for quite some time...but it takes a while for them to show it, and your patience paid off! I hope you have many more years of lap-sitting from this guy.
ReplyDeleteThat really is something for which to be thankful. I have found through the years with several of my cats that they have mellowed and become more trusting with age. Hope Eli keeps up the new behavior. Hugs, Janet
