You plan; kittens laugh

So, the other night I went and took care of the kittens, like I always do.  I did my best to leave the room reset for another day; food, water, clean litter, toys pulled out of corners - like I always do.. and yet something wasn't right.  Can you tell what it is by watching the video?

Ready to guess? did you guess that a kitten escaped with me? Well sadly you are completely correct. There are only four kittens in the first part of this video, and five once the baby gate goes across the door.  Want to watch again and check, go ahead, I won't mind.

I'm still pretty exhausted from all of the travel and all of the socialization, so I'm not shocked by this turn of events, but I am pretty disappointed in myself.  This is the first time since we have started isolating kittens from The Crew that this has happened. Poor Zilla was found 'stuck' on the stairs from the basement to the first floor because she was garnering too much interest from the resident cats and she ended up pooping on the stairs.  Seems my own cats weren't willing to walk past her either as someone peed in the bathroom... at least I am really really hoping that is what happened.

As soon as she was returned to the room, she acted as if nothing happened. She is in good spirits and probably telling good tall tales of her wild adventures among the wilds of The Crew

  1. AMA: If I show up at your door with my own happy bear (it's actually a dog) will I be able to join Kitten Fight Club?

  2. I had a hard time keeping track of those manic little things! I'm surprised that one slips out so rarely!

AMA: My question is a hard one but I've been wrestling with it this past half year. Has there ever been a time when you just had to stop fostering for some period, in order to cope with the rest of your life, and how did you say NO and stand it?? We stopped in the winter and I'm just not ready yet to start again, and I'm feeling rather guilty....

  4. Oops, sorry this happened, but at least she was not bothered by it. I really like catsonvillecats question above. Also, I was wondering how and when you decided to start fostering kittens?

    1. Mina was done being a mother and she was simply irritated all of the time. I brought her back to the shelter about a week and a half ago, and she is currently up for adoption, living the kitten free life.

  10. I wasn't able to keep up with the video so I certainly didn't notice one was missing. I'm surprised there wasn't a whole lot of yelling from the baby, especially when she got "stuck". I'm sure she was glad to be back with her sibs...the crew must have seemed a bit daunting to the baby!

Speaking of the crew, I only been reading your blog for a year, maybe two and I'm wondering if any of the crew are foster fails that you simply couldn't let go? What inspired you to start fostering to being with...and how many cats were in your home at the time?

  11. We're surprised this is the first time. Kittens can be so sneaky.

  12. When did you discover the escapee? We couldn't tell four from five as they move too fast for our old mom to follow. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  15. Wow, they move so fast, I couldn't begin to count them. The only thing I noticed was that the giraffe's neck was drooping at the beginning, and then it magically straightened out.
