Once again a cat learns I am right

I have been fostering kittens now for fourteen years. Over and over I find myself trying to convince cats and kittens that I know what I am doing and that what I am doing is in their best interest. They tell me they don't believe me and then they eventually come around and I have a moment of saying "I told you so" (because I know they don't understand) and then move on to the next thing I need to convince them of.

When I offered our mother cat something comfy to lay on to nurse her kittens, she said no thank you. For days she ignored it and then..

See, I told you.. isn't it much better to have them on something that isn't cold and slick?

I wanted to take a photo of her, and she was not happy about it.

Does that face say "I am not amused" to you? I know it does to me.  And look at those wee baby faces over there.. I bet you that I could just reach under the couch..

and Mom was not happy about that. I had to be quick. I could have pulled out others, but it would have bothered her so I decided to be kind instead of selfish. For a woman with the nickname of grabbyhands, that was not easy.

  1. I think you held out long enough! And there's a little chink in her armor. Several more weeks to go.

  5. Ms. Growlypants vs. Grabbyhands! I say, keep grabbin' the wee babes; Mama will learn to trust because nothing bad happens.

  6. You have to let them learn for themselves... that kitten is so cute. I kinda won't one. So lovely to see her enjoying something cuddling, and so funny the way she slowly moved herself on to it

  7. That is one adorable kitten. And we did notice - yesterday? - that Ms. Growlypants had moved everyone onto the blanket. We were very happy to see that.

  15. That kitten is a cutie. I am glad the Momma took your advice about a soft spot. The feral cat I adopted has just realized his blanket is more comfy than the wood he was sleeping on for over a month.
