Black Kitties
So as I mentioned I'm fairly certain I know who is who, but not because of the kitten in the photo, but rather the photo itself and the time and place it was taken. If I'm not wrong the first two photos are of the girl and the third is the boy.
they both have that gray-ish cast to their bib, it is just a little harder to see it on the boy. I love all of your suggestions for names, and when I get home I'll see if something sticks.
Now I have a technical / blog question for all of you. I was reading an article on things not to do on your blog.. one of which I do. It said you shouldn't have your links open up in new windows/tabs. I personally prefer it when I am reading someone's blog (or article or website) and I see a link I want to follow that the link open up in a new window. The writer of the article said that if people want to they can hit the back button to get to your website again.
so tell me. Which do you prefer? Links to open up in new tabs /windows leaving the originating website open or would you prefer they open up in the same window/tab and you can hit the back button if you want to return to the originating website??

I much prefer to open the link in a new window. What if I want to click further links from there? I don't want to have to keep hitting "back" to get to the original blog or site.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't thought about it but you're right most of the time when I am reading and I click on a link it takes me to a new page. Once I am finished normally I just close that page and I am back on the original website.

I think opening in a new window is better - I’m sure I read somewhere it was safer too!! But could be mistaken.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I hate it when I click and the page changes! I love when it opens a new tab! Why would anyone call that a mistake?? If you comment on whatever you were linked to, and you hit the back button, sometimes you get stuck in a loop: comment, you already said that, comment, you already said that. argh! New window please!
ReplyDeleteI tend to prefer links that open to a new tab. Easy to close the tab when finished with that page. Sometimes I finish reading the originating page before looking at the new tab. Maybe people that have very large screens, or multiple screens, prefer links that open in new windows.
ReplyDeleteWe definitely prefer to open in a new window.

I'm one for the 'new window' as well. So much easier than going back-back-back should you want to get back to where you started from.
ReplyDeleteI like the new window option

I have to wonder if that wasn't an old article you read because I don't think it applies anymore. I have always had my links open in a new window, unless they are links to other posts on my site and near the end of the blog post. And everyone I know prefers that now. I think maybe that wasn't the case years ago, when browsers and computers weren't as sophisticated as they are now.
ReplyDeleteWe are an "open new tab" user. I don't see why either way is a problem, especially if you have good protection.
ReplyDeleteI much prefer that links open in new tabs. It's such a pain to have to click the back button to navigate to previous pages; having multiple tabs open is much more organized.
ReplyDeleteI prefer links to open in new windows/tabs... So much easier to return to where you started. Don't change! :-)
ReplyDeleteI prefer it in a new window.
ReplyDeleteI don't let the program choose, I hover over the link and choose open in new tab :)
ReplyDeleteI prefer when links open in another tab too. When you follow a link, and then another, and then another, you don't necessarily go back to the initial blog.

I prefer links to open to a new window too. In fact, that used to be encouraged (so people would "stay" at your site).
ReplyDeletePersonally, I prefer the new window, too. However, I was recently researching on behalf of a blind friend how to make my blog user friendly for the visually impaired. One of the things mentioned was not having links open in a new window.
ReplyDeleteSince my skills are limited -- simple template, no coding experience -- I am unable to do most of the things they advised, anyway. I only bring it up in case you have any concerns about that audience.
I prefer it when you clip on a link it opens up in a new window or tap I hate having to clic back and when you do it gets stuck in a loop
ReplyDeleteI prefer to open the link in a new window. I find it's so much easier to click on another tab than to wait for the page to reload if I were to click on the back button.
ReplyDeleteI almost always make the program open links in a new tab (I've set my middle button to open in a new tab). However, the few times I do click on a link and let the website decide, I am expecting it to open in that window because I'm deliberately trying for that option. -YL
ReplyDeleteI prefer the new window as well. That way I can refer back to the original page if I want to.
ReplyDeleteI concur ~ new window please! :)

DEFINITELY new window or new tab!!
ReplyDeleteWe're late to the party, but we have the option in our right-click window to open any link in a new tab. So that is mostly what we do, unless we know we are done with the current page.
ReplyDeleteIn other words: New Tab/Window, always. We can always close the old tab.
