Construction with kitties

So for a while now I didn't like the way the window seats were working in the kitten room and I wanted to do something different.  They were difficult because they weren't actually seats, they were too high, and while there was storage there, it was difficult to get to.

While I was at BlogPaws my husband ripped them out, but we needed to find a place to put all of the stuff that was being stored in there.  So we took a trip to

Yup, we were in the right place ;)
We went on a Sunday so the ride down wasn't too bad.. the place was still packed though.  We walked through the whole thing looking for a cabinet to hold everything.  While looking my husband joked that we needed to get one of these

I mean seriously, how did I not do it??  But I knew Odilia wouldn't care one way or the other and it really wasn't practical for the room.  So we looked and I found three different units that I thought would work.  One was $230, that I liked a lot, but it was a really dark wood and I feared that it would be scratched up very quickly and look pretty bad pretty quick.  Another unit was really cool but it was $300 and I just wasn't thrilled with the coloring.. Then there was the unit we did buy which was a lesser quality than I wanted, but it was big, it would hold a lot, and it was pretty inexpensive considering.  So we purchased it and brought it home (along with a small stack of other things)  and it sat in the basement waiting for us to put it together.

Bout time you get to this!!
Typical Twee.. missing out on all of the action because you moved one of her toys to a new place.

Trevor checking out the base
Odilia likes power tools..
Trevor is so people orientated it is almost scary.
See all of that bedding on the couch on the right?  that all had to go in the cabinet. I got most of it in there, but some of it went to the shelter as a donation.  I also wanted to empty the bureau as well.  I was also lucky enough to be able to put that plastic set of drawers in there too, so we have reclaimed a LOT of floor space. The bureau needs to stay in there for another week or so until my husband builds me a shelf over the TV for the Tivo, at which point that will go, and we'll move the couch to the other side of the room and we'll have the new configuration that I think will make things work much better..   I went out and bought better handles than what came with it, and the room still isn't completely together.  once it is, I'll give you the official tour.

Speaking of bedding..
I claim this in the name of ME!
Has there ever been a better example of The Princess and the Pea?

  13. Trevor and Odilia certainly are nosey. They seem to make pretty good snoopervisors as well. They couldn't get any cuter if they tried. Purrs and hugs from the kitties at The Cat on My Head, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Josette
