Mom, Mom, Mom, Mom, Moooommmmm.... MOOOMM!!

Hey Minerva, you should come down off that toilet and deal with these kittens
Why? They aren't mine!
Because they need you..
oh all right..
Thank you, that was really kind of you.  Wait.. where are you going???
*I stick my tongue out at you* They are so needy
How about if I feed you.  Will that bring you down here?
nom nom nom
Thank you
They are not making this easy
Yup, but they can't help it.  You are the only mom they know.
....
Well I appreciate you taking care of them.
yea,, k..
(her tongue just hangs out of her mouth most days.. it's really cute.)

I guess Minerva really isn't thrilled at this wet nurse job. Sorry honey, but it did buy you a lot of time to learn more social skills so you'll make a more adoptable pet.  Before there was no way we could place you in a home... now it is much more likely.  Not 100% since you bit the sock on my foot after these pictures were taken because I spent so much time paying attention to the kittens and not nearly as much to you.  But I knew it was coming and your very obvious about it and you could have actually bitten me and you didn't and you did lick me for the first time which was really sweet.  I bet there is someone out there who can understand that.  *crosses fingers*

  1. You make a great mom Minerva! I know it's not the easiest job in the world, but you're doing a good thing. :) And maybe lay off on the sock biting, okay? ;)

  2. Good job Minerva!! You just need to find someone who understand the needy torti-tudeness and is willing to accept you as the diva you were meant to be. Mom laughed at the first picture - the very first mom cat we fostered would do this to get away from her kids too!!

  3. Minerva, you look like you want to be done with motherhood. :-D

We'll purr you find the right forever home...Maybe as an only cat, definitely with someone who understands and appreciates tortitude!

  4. Minerva is such a beautiful kitty. I hope that she does find a good home. At the very least she should get kudos for acting as a wet nurse.

  7. Answering your comment on Fuzzy Tales:

I knew better about what to feed the cats several years ago, but was too lazy and too soft-hearted, Connie. Tough love is hard for me, even though I had stopped free-feeding dry and cut it way back (or so I thought).

    Not enough, though.

And even if Derry does end up with chronic cystitis, which I really hope doesn't happen (of course), it won't change my mind re: the food.

And I NEVER agreed with the cr*p the vets try to insist you feed your cats.

  11. I understand perfectly. I have a whole herd of feral cats. And one in the extra bedroom that I can't touch yet. It just takes a lot of patience.Maybe when you start playing with the kittens, Minerva will learn that it is nice to have some attention. Don't force it on her. Let her come to you.

  12. Mum understands. Chrissie will always be a roller coaster ... sometimes she still runs in fear, other days shows a teeny bit of affection and Mum smiles ear to ear. Mum reckons she'll be a permanent work in progress.
