two paws forward, one paw back

still not gaining like I would like them to, and neither lunch nor dinner was welcomed with open mouths.  They ate, but not as much as they had in the past.  Not losing, but not gaining...

Dinner time also came with Nigel covered in ... something... on his back legs.  Didn't look nor smell like diarrhea, but I can only assume that is what it is.

I wanted to go to the shelter and get some clay litter for them for the kitten litter box, but I remembered they close early on Wednesday and they would be closed by the time I got there.  I did have a little bit left over and fortunately it was enough to fill the bottom of the litter box because there was stool sitting on the bedding.  I picked it up and put it in the litter box, then showed them all the box.  None of them showed the slightest interest in playing in it, which is quite out of the norm for kittens.  Later Lily went and squatted next to it, so I plopped her in it, and she went pee in the box.  :)

They have started coming out of the cage just to be out of the cage.  DH says they are fast approaching mayhem stage.  Bug, ever the rebel, went and sat on the side of the cage just because she could.  It freaked Jordan out a little and she kept trying to herd her back.  Still not going too far, which is good.

Jordan is showing her kitten-y side, and really wants to play.  She also is very much a lap cat, even if there is no room for her.  Her eyes still have issues.  they do not seem inflamed nor do they have goopy discharge, but every couple of days they are covered in dried black crusty tears and she holds her eyes closed.  She hates eye meds, but I do it when I can.

  1. Thanks for the kind words you left on our blog re:our losing Lewis.
I also foster cats (seniors) and one of our foster cats has that "reddidh eye drip" too. I've taken her to the vet numerous times and tried various things but after having her for over a year(she had a lot of health issues) I am resigned to bathing her eyes with warm water and a cloth every morning. If you find any solutions let me know, please and thanks!
Thanks for fostering and helping animals:)
