cord free

all three have lost their cords.. the black and white girl is starting to have an eye open. They all gained three grams over night.

Jill asked if there was enough room in there for her to nurse.  Barely.  There is barely enough room for her to lay down, but when she lifts and holds her leg up, the kittens can root in there and connect.  How they breathe I'll never know, but I've wondered that before with other mothers and multiple kits latched on, since they end up lined up like cord wood.

While I was feeding them, there was a really cute moment.  I fed the larger girl and then put her back with Jordan.  She turned and flomped herself over the edge of the opening.  Jordan reached out and "patted" the kitten, and then the kitten burped.  It was just so humorous.... it is a shame it is not on video.
